The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

Is it just me or does 'dredd' seem a bit toned, casual?

How come no-one's mentioned the amazing scale of the block floor. Looks incredible for a small-ish budget film. Wow.

Instantjustice, what would you give Dredd 3D out of 10?

Thanks.

As for Anderson not wearing a helmet, she rarely wears one in her stories. 99 percent of the time she is without a helmet because it affects her psychic powers. Imagine a car radio's analogue signal not working when a car goes in a tunnel, this is the same if Anderson wears a helmet. Her psi signals are blocked out.

Why does his voice change from his introductory line in that clip to when he says "admirable"?

I noticed that as well, he went from regular Karl urban voice to Dredd voice.

Hope thats not a mistake thats gonna be in the actual film.

Glad it wasn't just me that heard that. It will really suck if he changes his voice that dramatically a la Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and Batman. I don't have any challenge with Bale's voice in the Nolan's films as it was a cover for him, but Dredd's voice should always be Dredd's voice being he has the helmet on and secret identity is not an issue.

I Think the "to a block like this?" line was said by somebody else. To avoid spoilers and shit, i guess the mixed it up in the clip for public release, or maybe even cut it from teh film entirely. Whatever the case, it's not his voice when he says it.
