JUSTICE LEAGUE Production Designer Shares Early Sketch Of An Awesome Hoverbike For Batman

Justice League production designer Patrick Tatopoulos has shared some sketches from the movie and one of them features an early design for a hoverbike which would have been driven by Ben Affleck's Batman.

Batman has a lot of cool gadgets and vehicles in Justice League but a new piece of artwork reveals that the Dark Knight very nearly had a motorbike to go with the Batmobile and Flying Fox! The last time we saw the hero on a Batcyle was obviously The Dark Knight Rises but this one would have, well, hovered!

The shape of this vehicle is reminiscent of bat wings and there would have no doubt been room for it on The Flying Fox! Unfortunately, it seems this never got past the idea stage and it could have just been something production designer Patrick Tatopoulos drew for fun or to see if Zack Snyder would have been interested in including it because these are clearly very, very early sketches for the vehicle.

As cool as it is, a hoverbike may have been a tad too far-fetched for Justice League but it would be nice to see this sort of design utilised elsewhere in the DC Films Universe. Batgirl has been known for driving a bike over the years and bear in mind that Joss Whedon is reportedly still writing/directing it.

What do you guys think of this design? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts down below.

I don't understand why if he has all of these gadgets does he track down Aquaman...on horseback...

Justice League went overboard with the "Batman Barbie" stuff. Hoverbikes? Spider-Tanks? Makes you wonder how many of those homeless people who tried he could feed and employ with that money.

@Spock0Clock - I have my problems with TDKR, but it addressed the topic of Bruce and philanthropy in a unique way. We never see much of that.

When the Wayne Foundation quit supporting the orphanage, the kids that were turned out in the streets found whatever jobs they could. It was orphans that used to receive support from the Wayne Foundation that dug the tunnel for Bane.

While a storyline solely about charity is not a compelling action movie, the story of philanthropy plays a large part in the Batman series, specifically showing how a downturn in charitable giving has damaging effects throughout Gotham.

@MosquitoFarmer - The revelation of this vehicle as coming outta the two FRONT(!?!?) wheels of the Tumbler was such Genious. And then the movie kept going after that and getting better. ...(I MISS You, Christopher Nolan! 😢)

Pales in comparison...

The Batpod was a wonderful invention. It was a grounded creation and it felt more inventive than the hackneyed motorcycle with a bat symbol on it or, in JL's case, a hoverbike; which we've seen some form of in other media. Batpod was really unqiue and felt different and fresh.

@BlackBeltJones - Perfect example of everything that was right with Nolan and everything that's wrong with Snyder. No green screen or garbage CGI. They filmed a real explosion, added Batman and his bike in post, dark enough so nothing ugly could be seen. Great VFX.

Justice League should have looked like Edge of Tomorrow, or Pirates Dead Man, not Power Rangers.

This reminds me of this really weird anime/cartoon i followed some years back.

It had like fights and races on bikes and vehicles like this.

Pretty cool but doesn't seem fresh or game changing like batpod was.

I didn't particularly care for the Nightcrawler. Or the Flying Fox, and the accompanying aircraft hangar in Bruce's basement that'd make SHIELD jealous. I get that Batman is acting as the DCEU's Nick Fury, but...

@Kyos - Zack Snyder's presentation of Batman's vehicles has been incredibly unimpressive. Tim Burton's ability to unveil Batmobile and Batwing with flare and bravado is still damn impressive.
