JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Said To Be Eyeing Argentinean Director Damián Szifron To Replace Doug Liman

Now that Doug Liman has departed the project, Warner Bros.' Justice League Dark movie is going to need a new director, and the latest name to be thrown into the mix is Damián Szifron...

When it was announced that Doug Liman had decided to step away from WB's Justice League Dark movie, IT director Andy Muschiett was also said to be on the studio's radar, and now another name has emerged as a possible replacement.

On the latest episode of Meet The Movie Press, Jeff Sneider revealed that Argentinian filmmaker Damián Szifron is also in the mix. Szifron is relatively unknown Stateside, though he is still attached to helm Universal's stalled Six Billion Dollar Man movie, and he brought us the brilliant Argentine black comedy anthology film, Wild Tales.

We don't know if any negotiations have taken place yet or if Szifron is just someone the studio has an eye on, but we'll update if we find out more. WB definitely seems determined to get Justice league Dark up and running ASAP, so we can probably expect some kind of official announcement over the next coupe of weeks.

Not sure about his work, since he seems more a foreign director. Kind of wish Adam Wingard would get into contact with WB, or Fede Alvarez before they make their decision, but hopefully this guy knows the property and will do it justice if this becomes final.

Although my main wish was for James Wan to get this project, but sounds like he will completely own the role directing Aquaman.

@Menks123 - Damián Szifron is a great Argentinian director, the guy has this ironic style of comedy, with "Wild Tales" he almost won an Oscar, so we are talking about a really talented guy, within the level of Ben Affleck or James Wan.

Andres Muschietti is another Argentinian director, one of the pupils of Guillermo del Toro, this guy is all about "Old Fashion Horror", "Mama" is a great film and "It" looks great.

Fede Alvarez also would be great, he is Sam Raimi pupil, but is clear WB wants someone with a clear, fresh and distinctive style for the project.

@AleSir19 - Thanks for the info on Szifron! Idk anything about him, but i've been hearing great things, so that's great to hear.

I know Muschietti is very talented and i'd be very happy to have him 100%. Pretty sure he is a pupil of GDT as well, or has a close relationship, so I think that is a real possibility.

@SuperbatSpider1003 - @HugoStiglitz I guess "Del Toro" recommended "Andres Muschietti" to WB, after all this guy is his pupil.

The Problem of "Del Toro" is that he loves to have total artistic control of his projects and he almost never gets that kind of freedom, so he leaves. "Del Toro" has a really unique style wich producers really love, but he is a pain in the ass i guess.
