"Jim is Jim," Nic Cage said at the premiere of The Frozen Ground last night when asked for his thoughts on Jim Carrey's recent decision to not help promote Kick-Ass 2 due to his newfound stance on movie violence. "Jim is gonna do what Jim wants to do and that's his decision..." Many fans were shocked that Carrey - who plays Colonel Stars & Stripes in Jeff Wadlow's big screen adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. comic book series - would withdraw his support from the movie after happily taking a paycheck to appear in it. "I still believe in freedom of speech, I still believe that [the film is] an art, and I don't have enough proof yet about that correlation," added Cage. As for reports of him reprising the role of Big Daddy in some sort of cameo, the actor once again denied these rumours. "I'm not in Kick-Ass 2, there's been much said that I am; I'm not, just to go on record right now."

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass
Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl
Christopher Mintz-Plasse as The Mother F*cker
Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars
Donald Faison as Doctor Gravity

I 100% agre with you Nic Cage.

Smh at mutha[frick]ers hating on Jim. Mutha[frick]er has the right to speak his mind.

You think what Jim said was stupid? Oh like you've never said stupid shit in your life.

Jim can say what he want, I agree with Nic, and I will stand my ground if this turns into a Flame War.

Jim Carrey continually tries to regain his lost stardom and attention that he had in the 90's and lost.

Like Ralph Macchio, Scott Baio, Leif Garret, Burt Reynolds, Marylyn Manson, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Pesci, Eddie Murphy, Van Damme, Seagal and many others Jim Carrey had a very brief moment when he was a star, when he thought he mattered but his routine got old, he got old and nobody cares.

But unlike most FORMER stars Jim Carrey wont let it go. So he does these little stunts and homemade videos just to get some attention.

Anyday we'll see Jim Carrey release some video mocking the Zimmerman trial or whomever happens to be the target of the moment in the liberal scope.

Does Jim Carrey have a right to speak his mind and plead for attention and pander his PC correctness for the liberals in the Entertainment industry and news media?
Sure he does. But that doesnt mean some of us arent going to see it for what it is. And SOME of us sure arent going to listen to a sermon from a former comedian and former star.

Carrey is just a guy with an opinion no greater than any one elses.

@ManDeth

NO DUH!? Conservatives tend to be very short sighted, and like to act like they know it all (But they DON'T)!

Just because he might hire guards with guns does not mean he WANTS to HAVE to hire guards with guns Mr. I see the BIG picture!

What he said is harmless compared to what a gun nut is capable of (P.s. I own a gun. So I must be a hypocrite)!

@UrbanKnight You argument above actually makes me laugh its so full of holes!

"Just because he might hire guards with guns does not mean he WANTS to HAVE to hire guards with guns Mr. I see the BIG picture!"

Thats right dude. But he needs armed security doesnt he. And he has that right to have it because men died fighting to keep this country free.

If Carrey doesnt want to be in the USA he can take his old, codger ass somewhere else. He could live anywhere in the World. But he wont. Because he likes our freedoms. He just doesnt want everyone to have those freedoms.

The USA has a 2nd amendment. Any citizen who doesnt like that can feel free to leave. No one will miss them.

In Carrey's case only fans of old codger humor would notice.

@Thegeekygurl So you are suggesting I'm not very patriotic now somehow!? lol. I guess we are both making each other laugh now. Typical conservative argument.
I'm critical of this country outta LOVE because I see its EVEN BIGGER potential. I criticize my parent too, doesn't mean I don't love em.

I'm sure Carrey would stay in Canada if he didn't have to work here, and it wasn't so damn cold out there! lol

Canada is like the U.S. without the need to be number 1 ALL THE DAMN TIME. Which is why there are way less homicides, and just as many "freedoms", over there. I guess you would call that them just being pussies.

That second amendment is outdated. They only had muskets, arrows, and canons etc.. when they wrote it. We have nuclear weapons now! According to the logic of that sacred amendment we can all have those in our homes as well! lol. Don't be brainwashed, think outta the box baby gurl. ;)

Nic Cage just got through wrapping up filming in my town, Mobile, Alabama. He was doing a movie called Tokorev. Everybody has said he is a super nice guy & he has been all around town enjoying the city. My best to the guy..seems very down to earth.

Nick Cage - "Leaving Las Vegas." All else is forgiven.

And I say that as a fan of the original "Wicker Man." And the original "Bad Lieutenant" and I know he'll continue to make more gonzo-batshit-crazy films. But this is they guy who returned the upfront fee for the failed Superman project.

Honestly, I don't care what Jim Carrey says he has a right too it. Are these dumbasses offened by his videos and statements the same ones who say not to be offended at racist and sexist jokes? Huh, that is interesting. I do however care what he does with his Kick-Ass 2 money. If he gives the money to a charity dedicated to stopping any kind of violence, ok. Or gives it to the families of those who lost children and family members in those shootings, hell even better. But if he just keeps it, i think that is wrong. If you take the moral high ground you can't just say you take the moral high ground, you HAVE to take it. So either give it to charity or give it back to the producers.

I would respect Carey's opinion more if he gave his check for this movie to charities for inner city kids or the Sandy Hook victims themselves.
