"Jim is Jim," Nic Cage said at the premiere of
The Frozen Ground last night when asked for his thoughts on Jim Carrey's recent decision to not help promote
Kick-Ass 2 due to his newfound stance on movie violence.
"Jim is gonna do what Jim wants to do and that's his decision..." Many fans were shocked that Carrey - who plays Colonel Stars & Stripes in Jeff Wadlow's big screen adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. comic book series - would withdraw his support from the movie after happily taking a paycheck to appear in it.
"I still believe in freedom of speech, I still believe that [the film is] an art, and I don't have enough proof yet about that correlation," added Cage. As for reports of him reprising the role of Big Daddy in some sort of cameo, the actor once again denied these rumours.
"I'm not in Kick-Ass 2, there's been much said that I am; I'm not, just to go on record right now."
Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.
