Keven Smith is no stranger to the comic book community. From writing stories on characters such as Green Arrow and Batman to his famous story of his Superman script that almost was. A while ago I posted that Smith was looking to do a reality show that was being described as Pawn Stars for nerds. AMC has picked up the show for six one hour episodes. Smith will serve as executive producer along side Charlie Corwin’s Original Media and Elyse Seiden. The series will revolve around the daily life in a comic book shop, featuring the employees and customers and would also show off valuable comic books and comic book movie memorabilia.

Said Smith in a released Statement:

"Draper. Meth. Zombies. This show couldn't be on a better network. AMC is to television what Miramax was to cinema back when I first got in the game: they're the premier destination for any story-teller looking to spin an offbeat yarn that no other outlet has the stones to touch.”

AMC senior vp original programming, Joel Stillerman, also commented saying:

“The comic book store is, in many ways, the corner bar for comic book fans. It is still this place where everybody knows your name, and you can go and geek out with like minded people. If I lived closer, I’d want to hang out at here.”

The show is tentatively being called Secret Stash after the comic book shop in which Smith owns. The series is scheduled to premiere some time in early 2012.

As a cool FYI - I actually sent in a bio and pic for this and got asked to come out for an interview, but because I live out of state and it was such short notice I couldn't do it (they called at 12noon, needed an answer if I was coming by 5pm the same day, and I needed to fly out the next day).

@GiftedYoungster - Agreed, I would love it if Bry, Walt and Q made it onto the show somehow. That would be amazing.

They're supposed to somehow. Definitely Walt, and I think Bry will be there despite (along with Q) not working there.

Do people realise Walt Flanagan (the guy that runs the store) illustrated Batman Cacaphony and Wideing Gyre? also he penned the lyrics to the following song. How prolific for a shop keep of dubious repute.

okay the love fest is over

I'm in the Pilot Episode for this show! We shot it back on late June. Hope they air the pilot episode I have a pretty extensive part, look for the guy in a green Olive Drab baseball cap and a classic "The AMAZING SPIDER MAN" t-shirt and that will be me! The girl they got to work behind the counter (Zoey) is smokin hot, she was wearing all these super hero costumes during some shoots and good god was it beautiful.

@ niceguyeddie So that's how CML look like. Loved their take on the song, but the video was a little painful. Good god... they were bending the spines! The spines!!

It'd be cool to see the rest of the TESD crew like Ming Chen and Sunday Mike. Not too sure how Johnson's Ming imitation (if he ever lets it loose) would go over on the network though - we'll see how teflon he really is.
