The results were close but Angels and Demons etched out a number 1 spot at the box office this past weekend.

Angels and Demons bowed at 48 million to Star Trek's 43 million, putting Angels and Demons in the number one movie spot in the United States this weekend.

Star Trek's opening weekend bowed at 75.2 million making it the record holder for the largest grossed income for the second weekend in May. With the combined efforts of week two Star Trek is now sitting on $147.6 million domestically for a World Wide total of 196.8 million. I call that success. The second week's total was no were near the drop in revenue Wolverine experienced.

Wolverine made 87 million opening weekend, it dropped to 27 million the second weekend it was at the box office. That's a pretty dramatic drop in sales. In its third weekend at the box office the Wolvie movie scored only 14.8 million. Although Wolverine did not hold steady at the box office Fox is calling it a success and has announced two spin offs, Wolverine 2 and a solo Deadpool movie. World wide gross for Wolverine is at 274.1 million.

All and all Hollywood is happy with the box office receipts. It is no TDK by any means but at least it is steady. We have not seen the numbers that Terminator Salvation, Transformers ROTF, and the new Harry Potter flick will put up. I am willing to bet that one of those three movies will be the leader of the pack this summer.
