Angels And Demons Best Star Trek This Past Weekend For The Number 1 Movie Spot

Where does Wolverine fit in you may ask?

The results were close but Angels and Demons etched out a number 1 spot at the box office this past weekend.

Angels and Demons bowed at 48 million to Star Trek's 43 million, putting Angels and Demons in the number one movie spot in the United States this weekend.

Star Trek's opening weekend bowed at 75.2 million making it the record holder for the largest grossed income for the second weekend in May. With the combined efforts of week two Star Trek is now sitting on $147.6 million domestically for a World Wide total of 196.8 million. I call that success. The second week's total was no were near the drop in revenue Wolverine experienced.

Wolverine made 87 million opening weekend, it dropped to 27 million the second weekend it was at the box office. That's a pretty dramatic drop in sales. In its third weekend at the box office the Wolvie movie scored only 14.8 million. Although Wolverine did not hold steady at the box office Fox is calling it a success and has announced two spin offs, Wolverine 2 and a solo Deadpool movie. World wide gross for Wolverine is at 274.1 million.

All and all Hollywood is happy with the box office receipts. It is no TDK by any means but at least it is steady. We have not seen the numbers that Terminator Salvation, Transformers ROTF, and the new Harry Potter flick will put up. I am willing to bet that one of those three movies will be the leader of the pack this summer.

@LEEE777

So did you just sit there for the hour and 47 minutes just fuming, and writhing in your seat? Makes me wonder why did you stay?

When I saw Matrix Reloaded, I sat near a guy that was probably dragged to it by his wife/girlfriend. He made the experience terrible. Was just sucking his teeth at everything and voiced his displeasure the whole movie. I hated that man.

I hope you didn't do the same.

Well, apparently Angels and Demons is a piece of crap so this is just further proof that popular doesnt always mean good.

We will see how it does next wee when Terminator comes out. Any movie with a following will do good its first week but the second week is usually a good indication on how good a movie really is.

Yeah, I saw Angels and Demons Saturday, wasn't all that good. A lot of, "We're looking for something...what time is it?" *moves watch away from cone of vision to reveal... "Holy crap! Our next clue!" Good job Tom Hanks, for making me hate you a little more each time.

Great anticipation, good ride, horrible destination...

Booo Angels and Demons Booo! THe da vinci code is one of the only books i ever put down because it was so bad. It was like reading a lawyer suspense thriller novel. Crappity crap. Never gave the second one a chance.

Actually Leee777...Angels and Demons was written before the Da'Vinci Code. The movie was in no way like the book. The book wasnt all that bad. There was some interesting parts but the movie killed it. Ewan McGregor was the only highlight of the movie. GR8 actor! His was the only character that somewhat came to life (not his fault they cut alot out of his character too). The rest was flat, crap. The Assasin couldnt even have scared the bunny on my slippers! What they did put in the movie they changed. Maybe I should have seen Wolverine instead.

"tom hanks and ron howard should be doing some sci-fi shit insteada religious national treasure-esque shit" too true. The mystery was unable to be solved in how many centries and here comes Robert Langdon to solve it all in 8 hours. How can the world survive without him?!

I dont think the books are crap. They had the potential to be better with all the info they had. Dan Brown is just not that gifted a writer.

Well the article should mention that, despite Wolverine´s drop in two weeks, it also has reached $151 million dollars in the US.

Just a side note, here in Mexico the teathers are open again, but they just didnt premiere Wolverine and S Trek all of a sudden, since there were OTHER movies making line and now they are figuring out when will they put the movies...damn!
