COMICS: DC Unveil The New Ray

The new who? "Ray" was a character from DC's super-team The Freedom Fighters a few years back and he has undergone a radical reinvention for the DCnU. Check out his new look..

From The Washington Post..

DC Comics tells Comic Riffs that Palmiotti and Gray will take the reins for “The Ray” — a four-issue miniseries due out in December that’s devoted to the classic “human ray of light” freedom fighter.

Palmiotti and Gray have worked on the Ray as Stan Silver. Now, the latest identity of the Ray is: Lucien Gates. (“Much to the chagrin of [Lucien’s] girlfriend,” DC says.)

DC are really being thorough with their reboot. But all of these characters and no Sandman? C'mon guys, you know it makes sense!

@EasternBunnyKiller theres more than one Sandman besides Gaiman's goth wet dream

Yeah but the "goth wet dream" is the best one. Easter, I used to feel that way too but enough time has passed I think. If he doesn't want to go back to the character let another writer have a crack at it.

I like it, the fin head Ray was goofy, and the 90's leather jacket wearing Rocketeer rip off was even more lame.

Looks cool, I might get this.

Too much shiny light emitting from him. The emblem is ok,need to tone down the body. A Silver Surfer look would be cool maybe.

My first introduction to The Ray was the 90's mini-series so that version will always be The Ray to me.

The DCnU is the time for reinvention. Im pretty excited to see how the new Ray will crack out. I agree with Ror, a new interpretation of Sandman would complete me :P

Never read Gray and Palmiotti's Freedom Fighters. Probably skip this too. Looking forward to All Star Western though!

Looks like during the last marvel/dc crossover that Captain Atom and the Elder of the Universe the Grandmaster had a love child! He does look like he's balding and go figure Jason Statham doesn't want to play a superhero and now we have the perfect role for him. D'oh!

Jeez, what happened to Ray Terrill? Which reminds me, at some point this month I'm going to pick up the TPB of the first issues of the early 90's Ray series, back when Joe Quesada was an artist (before everyone became a critic of his handling of Spider-Man).

I still like the gold and black motorcycle jacket look, painfully '90s as it is. Designed by Joe Quesada of all people. That was more distinct. They made it work on JLU:

Dont like the new desighn at all, much prefer the old one, and he is a pretty cool character.
I like that DC is not only giving other characters their own series in the new 52 but also giving other guys a chance with these mini sereis, I dident even know they were doin this until I saw Huntress was coming out with hers in october, pretty cool.

@marvel72: Powergirl can be found alongside Mr. Terrific, as a supporting character, in his own title.
