COSPLAY: Jessica Nigri As Portgas D. Ace & Miss Monday
Queen of cosplay, Jessica Nigri, dressed as Portgas D. Ace from the Japanese shounen manga series One Piece, and Miss Monday from the combat game, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. Hit the jump to check it out.
Before we enjoy Jessica's cospaly, I wanted to bring to your attention something that happened on an episode of SyFy‘s Heroes of Cosplay. A "reality" show that follows stars of the cosplay community from one comic book convention to the next as the cosplayers quickly create elaborate costumes for each event. Sadly, the show is light on reality, and heavy on the manufactured drama. In the second episode, Yaya Han, who is a judge on the show and a world class cosplayer, said, "I think Jessica (Nigri) and I approach cosplay from different angles. For me it's all about the craftsmanship, really paying a lot of attention to detail. The content that Jessica Nigri puts out really displays cosplay in the wrong light. She doesn't ever produce anything that showcases anything beyond the sex appeal."
Sounds like a juicy catfight in the making, right? Wrong! Both, Jessica and Yaya, have put together a new video in which Yaya explains that creative editing by SyFy made it appear as though she was talking smack about Jessica, when in fact she wasn't.
