With production of the movie to get started early next year, our first look at Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln has just been revealed. There's no look at costume yet, but you can already have an idea on how the actor will look like on the former president costume.

Thanks Richmond.com for the find:
The Twitterverse alerted us just after lunchtime on Wednesday, Nov. 30 that Daniel Day-Lewis was spotted dining at the brand-spanking new Arcadia restaurant in Shockoe Bottom (in the former Café Gutenberg), and Michael Phillips (aka @UVAMichael) snapped a picture.

The cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Sally Field and Jackie Earle Haley. Lincoln is expected to come to theaters in December next year.

I wasn't sure about his being cast when I first heard about it, but now I'm convinced he'll do an amazing job. The rest of the cast is great too (Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Harris, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, etc), and Spielberg's directing. Nuff said.

@Paul-I don't think we'll have anything to worry about with this flick.

HOLY....CRAP. Yep, ditto to Gaston. Just give him the Oscar. Is Sally Field Mrs. Lincoln? She was kind of a nut job you know. Probably why he went into politics, to get of the house. Good casting.

@ecks Agreed. Team of Rivals was a good read, plus I've been wanting to see a good Lincoln film for as long as I can remember.

Oh, and John Williams is scoring (then again, he scores nearly every Spielberg film). If they can get a similar feel to War Horse, then it's bound to be epic.

My Father in Law is an Extra in the film. From what he told me over Thanksgiving break things on the set in Virginia are amazing. His costumes for the film are incredible as well. So i can only assume Daniels will be great for Lincoln.
