Director Matthew Vaughn To Pen Script For Mark Millar's The Secret Service

The much in demand director is sticking close to "home" with his involvement with several of Mark Millar's comic-to-film adaptions including The Secret Service and Superior.

According to THR Mark Millar is sticking close to his UK buddies when it comes to selecting his next movie project. While many fans are eagerly waiting to hear some news from FOX about an X-Men:First Class sequel, Millar is reportedly looking to assume writing duties for Mark Millar's The Secret Service along with Jane Goldman (pictured above). Millar's new comic isn't even out yet but it boasts an impressive array of talent including Millar, Vaughn and artist Dave Gibbons (co-creator of The Watchmen). Millar is currently auctioning the opportunity to name the villain similar to what he did for the protagonist of Kick-Ass.

Vaughn also holds the movie rights to Superior but sources tell THR that Vaughn will only supervise scriptwriting on that project. No word yet on whether he will direct either project. THR also provides a bit of theory as to why we haven't received news on a First Class sequel yet:

Vaughn is said to be contemplating a return to his roots for whatever his next venture turns out to be. While First Class was a hit, grossing $352 million worldwide, the making of the movie was a grueling, down-to-the-wire experience for the filmmaker, who was tackling his first studio picture and is accustomed to having full control.

I have to say that Vaughn's hesitancy could indeed be the reason why we've yet to hear anything definitive about a First Class sequel. He's committed and backed out on more big name projects than any other director (besides Darren Aronofsky). Could be he's looking for more creative control and he'd definitely get that working on one of Millar's properties.

Matthew Vaughn (born 7 March 1971 in London, England) is an English film producer and director known for producing such films as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Snatch (2000) and directing the films Layer Cake (2004), Stardust (2007) and Kick-Ass (2010). His latest film is the 2011 superhero film X-Men: First Class.

So we can get pretty much every Millar world comic adapted to film, but can't get heroes such as Wonder Woman or Flash.

@nolanite ya but the difference is that if you took the top off the girl in your comment they would pretty much look the same with the top on but if you took the top off the redhead her titties would look like fried eggs nailed to the wall...

@NOLANITE - Nice!

@croniccris @ViltrumiteKing - I agree with ViltrumiteKing, that was funny as hell.

So ok Matthew Vaughn is now directing The Secret Service, producing Superior and Nemesis. Which pretty much leaves First Class to get another director, and Kick-Ass 2 moves closer to being another Sin City "frick".
