Early Word On Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Early Word On Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

It's good! The first review is in, and while it's not exactly in depth, it's certainly glowing.

Greg Mottola(Director of Superbad/Adventureland) has seen an early cut of
Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrin Vs The World , and here's his take on it...

"Be very jealous of me. I’ve seen an entire cut of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD. Edgar Wright has made a classic (again)! It’s amazing. … I would say that Scott Pilgrim is the wittiest action movie you’ll ever see, but that’s just the half of it. … Needless to say, Michael Cera is perfect. In fact, every single performance is incredible. You’ve got something special to look forward to. … The filmmaking is so insanely good, I retired halfway through the movie. (looking forward to the pension checks, tho)"

Earlier, Juno/Up in the Air director Jason Reitman tweeted a mini-review of the film which he called “a game changer for Edgar and the genre” and “the first all encompassing film of the joystick generation.”

So, very high praise indeed. I have to say, as much as I love the idea of any comic book adaptation, this one didn't have me very exited. Has anyone out there in CBM land read these comics? Wright is rumored to be writing and directing a live action Ant-Man movie soon after Pilgrim goes on release.

I didn't read or know about the books before I heard the movie, but I think it sounds interesting. The cast looks very solid (I love me some Mary Elizabeth Winstead) too.

I'll check this out when it's released. Consider me intrigued :)

This doesn't interest me too much. The live action Ant man sounds cool, I've not heard about that. If true, maybe we'll get to see the Pyms in the Avengers after all.

i read all the volumes so far. its....unique...vol 3 was a bitch to read. 4 was a good wrap up of vol 3 and 5 sets up for vol 6. Its like a teem romcom thats trying to add in a fresh new style by adding in as much randomness it can. Wait and see I guees. its such a pop culture movie, im sure it will do well. Glad edgar wright is doing it, hes amazing at filming awesome things. @MPP yeah the illustration was hard to get through cuz it looked pretty generic and lousy, like a cheaply done cartoon....but i have high hopes for the movie. Wont be anywhere as awesome as KICK-ASS.

Scott Pilgrim RULES! Imagine a manga style comic about a Canadian slacker in his mid twenties from the point of view of a slacker in his mid twenties who played way too much sega genesis when he was fourteen. It's fantastic.

It's funny and sweet and just when you think the book might take itself too seriously, there are ninjas or robots or ninja-robots. I like to think that Brian Lee O'malley is what Jhonen Vasquez would be like if JV's Mom hugged him more.

I give Scott Pilgrim a bajillion stars out of a shmillion stars (which is actually less than a bajillion)
