EMMYS: Here's A Full List Of Winners From From The 2024 Emmy Awards As BETTER CALL SAUL Makes History

The Emmy Awards took place yesterday evening, and while superheroes were largely frozen out of the nominations, it's Better Call Saul that made history...but not exactly for a good reason. Check it out!

The 75th Emmy Awards took place last night after the show's original air date - last September - was pushed back thanks to the Hollywood strikes. Now, the best of the best in the television realm have been singled out and, unfortunately, it proved to be a forgettable night for Marvel and Star Wars

Succession and The Bear led the way with six wins each, with Deadpool 3 star Matthew Macfadyen winning for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Fantastic Four's rumoured Thing actor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, walked away with the prize for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

It was also a night to forget for Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul

During its six-season run, the show received a total of 53 Emmy nominations only to never win a single one of them. As a result, it joins what some have deemed the "too good for Emmys" pantheon alongside the likes of The Wire and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Killing Eve was only good for season 1. Went downhill quick.

Insane BCS never won anything over 6 seasons, that show was incredible. One reason I never watch these award shows, half the time it’s just a club with everyone patting each others backs

BCS has no Emmy.

BCS needs no Emmy.

BCS is too good for the Emmys that nobody watches anyway.

Interesting that The Wire also won none since the Wire, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul are the best shows of all time.

@DarthAlgar - That show is certainly near the top but not better than any of the shows I mentioned.

@mountainman - So, I have seen none of those three shows, but they have all been on my list for a long time. Before getting into better call Saul, or can I just jump in?
mountainman
mountainman - 1/16/2024, 9:24 AM
@Izaizaiza - Even though BCS is a prequel, it’s probably best to watch BB first. They were written that way and best experienced that way.

@mountainman - Gotcha. I've only seen the first episode of breaking bad, which I loved. We finished, I was excited about it, and my wife said "that was way too intense to watch before bed". 😑 Have to find some time to watch it on my own. Not easy in my life currently.

@Izaizaiza - agree with the above, start with BB… BCS also has callbacks and in-jokes you wont get if you start with it.

@Izaizaiza - @Izaizaiza - If the first episode was too much before bed, it only gets more intense. However it's all worth it. The shows are incredible. As others have said, watching them in release order is better than timeline order, and don't forget to close it all out with El Camino.

However, while release order doesn't ruin Saul, Walt or Jesse's story, it does spoil the stories of several important side characters like Mike and Gus. So I would recommend this order:

1. Watch BB up through Season 2 Ep. 8 - Saul's first appearance.

2. Watch BCS up through Season 6 Ep. 11 - The episode Walt and Jesse appear.

3. Watch the rest of BB

4. Watch the final 2 episodes of BCS

5. Watch El Camino

This order turns BCS into one giant flashback/introduction to Saul and the other side characters Saul introduces into Walt's life, like Mike and Gus. It also makes these tertiary characters more interesting because you know their back story and exactly what they are capable of, which adds a lot of emotional weight and drama to their interactions with Walt and Jesse.

NOTE: There are some scenes in BCS that are B&W. These tease Saul's post BB future, but they don't ruin what happens in BB. And the teasing structure aligns with how BB teases future events with their prologues in BB.

@RoberTiger - Thanks man! My first goal is to get to episode 2, but if I break that seal, I'll put your schedule in to effect!

The Bear deserves all the accolades. Better Call Saul was rigged from the start, like someone had a vendetta. Succession end kind of meh for me so I didn't think it deserved all the awards. Whiney brats fighting over a billion dollar company isn't game changing

Damn. The best drama finalists reads like a list of shows have been meaning to watch, but haven't.

Andor, yellow jackets, the bear, house of dragon, the last of us, Not to mention better call Saul

I need to watch more shows, clearly!

BCS is OBJECTIVELY better than every other show that got nominated. Particularly, BCS should’ve been in the slot that The Last of Us had.

Does the Boys not qualify for this award because Antony Star is one of the most engaging characters in al of television.

Damn, nothing for Better Call Saul? Seriously? That's a crime worse than anything they ever depicted in the show. 😂

Hands down best prequel/spin-off for ANYTHING I've ever seen. It's not often a prequel manages to simultaneously enhance and surpass an already stellar original.
