First Look At Chris Pine, Margot Robbie, & Chiwetel Ejifor In Sci-Fi Thriller Z FOR ZACHARIA

We might just see Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie join the Suicide Squad, but first she'll take the lead in the big-screen adaptation of Robert C. O’Brien's post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel, Z For Zacharia. See the first official production still after the jump.

Craig Zobel (the brilliant Compliance) will adapt Robert C. O’Brien's sci-fi novel, Z For Zacharia, for Lotus Entertainment. The director has released the first official look at his main cast: Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) will play a woman (a teenager in the book) who lives alone on a farm in the only valley with breathable air following the outbreak of nuclear war. Her life is turned upside down after two strangers (Star Trek Into Darkness' Chris Pine and Serenity's Chiwetel Ejifor) emerge from the forest and make contact. Below is the novel synopsis.

Is anyone out there? Ann Burden is sixteen years old and completely alone. The world as she once knew it is gone, ravaged by a nuclear war that has taken everyone from her. For the past year, she has lived in a remote valley with no evidence of any other survivors. But the smoke from a distant campfire shatters Ann’s solitude. Someone else is still alive and making his way toward the valley. Who is this man? What does he want? Can he be trusted? Both excited and terrified, Ann soon realizes there may be worse things than being the last person on Earth.

Z For Zachariah will be released late next year.

Like we haven't seen movies like this a thousand times.

Getting tired of dystopian stories and movies (maze runner, hunger games, that one with that girl that was almost in spiderman that @rormachine kicked out, the one with will smith, kite, etc).

I get that they use comic book and or scifi movies to credit these actors but it is kind of unfortunate to not use 12 Years a Slave for Chiwetel Ejifor.

Agreed, these types of movies are getting tired.
Chappie, however, looks like a different type of bad future and almost a throwback to 80s bad future movies.

I don't get why Hollywood always casts older people... Couldn't she at least be 18 or 20? She is 24... That's 8 years older than 16.

The cross on her neck confirms it, Hal Jordan is going to sin with Harley Quinn's blessing of a body

Hopefully nobody saw my comment where I mistook Chiwetel Ejiofor for David Oyelowo. I'm not racist.

@MarkyMarkRises: It is bad form to advertise your own article in another editor's article. I'm sure Ror doesn't mind, but it does seem a little bit not so cool.

And, of all comic book movies headed our way, Suicide Squad is one I couldn't give a rotting rat's ass under a fish market about.

However, I do like anatopian movies, after-the-Armageddon flicks are usually right up my alley, so I might give this flick a view.

Who is Pine supposed to be playing?
I don't recall a third character in the novel but that could just be because of me reading years ago for a high school assignment.
