From Screen to Screen - Would MISFITS have been better as a Movie?

I was a fan of Misfits and after re-watching the series on dvd I've had some thought on how it would have worked as a movie or trilogy....

Okay so as said in the teaser I was a fan of Misfits the British TV show which at first was said to be a mix of Heroes and Skins something that excited me especially with how gritty both shows could be although I was told the U.S. version of Skins was toned down due to some of you guys across the pond not being too happy with the sexual content and drug use especially around teens/young adults (Is this true?)

Anyway Misfits was a great show until series four in in which (SPOILER ALERT) all of the original cast left (apart from Rudy although he joined in series three replacing Nathan played by Robert Sheehan).
Now I'm all for the idea of giving a new cast a chance to show they can be as good as the original but the new cast just didn't have the same spark and so I lost interest in stories that did seem to just be screaming "PLEASE LIKE THESE CHARACTERS AS MUCH AS THE OLD ONES".

For those that aren't familiar with the show Misfits is about a group of badly behaved young adults (18 - 20 years olds) on community service in South London (its like the south of New York is NY was really crappy, No offense to any Londoners BIG UP SOUTH SIDE) anyway a storm causes these young guys and gals to gain powers -

Kelly played by Lauren Socha the chav of the group (dont ask) can read minds Curtis played by Nathan Stewart-Jarrett the sports star can turn back time
Alisha played by Antonia Thomas the hottie can make anyone want to.... have sex with her with a single touch
Simon played by Iwan Rheon the shy weird kid can turn invisible
And Nathan by played by Robert Sheehan (SPOILER ALERT) is immortal

Now the first two series ran really well and if it were to be a movie I'd focus the movie on the first series as that would then make it open to a sequel but even as a stand alone film it would work well.

So going with series one we would have the entire first episode played in a movie format starting with the group on community service we would be introduced to them and then comes the storm, so throughout the film we would have the basics of each episode of series one obviously cut down to all fit into one film taking out the most unnecessary stuff and most of the Curtis episode.
But as long as we showed the stages through the series in which we saw the characters struggle to adapt to their new found powers and learning to use them as well as the characters getting to know each other, I guess the main points of the series you'd have to show in the film are -

- Getting their powers
- The characters as they were in the show
- The death of their probation officer Tony
- All the key uses of their powers
- Tony's replacement Sally knowing their behind his disappearance and using Simon to learn more
- Simon accidentally killing Sally to save the group being outed

During the second half of the film we're introduced to the girl who's power is to influence/brainwash people making a cult-like group of youths into adopting ultra-conservative behaviour and this would basically be the entire last episode of the series which (SPOILER ALERT) ends which Nathan and Simon being the only two left of the group who haven't been brainwashed and ending in Nathan falling to his death and then awaking in his coffin to find his power is Immortality.

Now as I said that could leave it open for a Sequel which like this would be based on an entire series (series two) using the first episode and then important plot points throughout the series and ending which would be basically like the first movie, the last episode of series two in which the group become celebrities but are killed by a guy with a really bad power (for he is DAIRY MAN!) only for Curtis to turn back time and save the day.
And we could also introduce the obviously Dark Knight inspired SuperHoodie character which would develop a third movie (you'll know what I mean if you've seen the series)

Okay so my main reason for thinking Misfits would have made it as a movie is because -

A. It would leave a bigger effect in movie form as we'd want to watch it over to really enjoy the characters again and again, and it would have gained more attention.
B. A movie could develop a spin-off TV show which could introduce the second cast and make the TV show their own where as the original cast had the movie/movies.

What are your thoughts?
