Dan Aykroyd let go the Ghostbuster news while being interviewed by The Boston Globe that "Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009"

This does not mean that the film has a green light yet. The script is currently being written by the guys who write for "The Office". Once that is finished then off course the casting news will start being made public. I have heard that the direction of this film is going the way of a pass the torch scenario. If done right that would be cool. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Earnie Hudson are getting a bit to old to be out there fighting other worldly demons (AKA: Ghosts). Although I'm happy that writers want to see the original Ghost Busters on board to take on some poltergeist baddies, a new team to take their place is only natural if you are to continue the Ghostbuster's franchise. My picks for the new team are: Vince Vaughn, Jack Black or Seth Rogan (but not both), Chris Rock or Chris Tucker (again not both, one or the other) and for Egon I think Robert Downey Jr. would fill the role's shoe's just fine.

Sigourney Weaver has yet to confirm or deny weather or not she will be involved in the film. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing the next addition to this once blockbuster franchise.

JMan I love the Ghostbusters & I've been waiting years for this movie !!
Ramis also hints that the studio is keen with perhaps "tapping" some of the acting talent in director Judd Apatow's films.
If the original Ghostbusters are handing down their proton packs to a "new class" then these 4 guys should have the same qualities as the first 4.

CRUSH CAST:

Seth Rogan replaces Bill Murray/Peter Venkman

Jonah Hill replaces Dan Akroyd/Ray Stants

Jay Baruchel replaces Harold Ramis/Egon Spangler

Craig Robinson replaces Earnie Hudson/Winston Zeddemore

Here is the cast (should be)...

seth rogan, john krasinski, raul rudd, and Romany Malco as the ghostbusters. It doesn't matter who they replace.
Supporting roles (like dana barret, or louis tully) i have a few ideas:
Steve Carrell, Jenna Fisher, Jason Bateman,
Lots of good choices!

I'm holding my breath. The idea of a 3rd Ghostbusters makes me super excited, but I hate the 'passing of the torch' idea. When has that EVER worked?!

I have been hearing about a sequel for the past 10 years... If this is true i don't want the guys from the office to write it. I was hoping Harold Ramis and Dan Akryod would come back and write it. I love ghostbusters and i do not want to see a crapy remake of my childhood favorite!

If they do make a remake i would like Seth Rogen to write it. I love the office don't get me wrong, but this is not the right type of humor for taking down other worldly demons!

So I guess it's pretty unanimous that everyone wants Seth Rogan and some of the Apatow crew. Wow, you guys agree!!! I'm so proud! LOL.

ROR-

What's wrong with Tucker bro? He's a funny f*ck! However, in the movie, Winston wasn't funny so if that's ur reason then i'm with u.
