Golden Globes Tonight

The 69th Annual Golden Globes air tonight, and although several of last year's big name comic-related features were passed up, we still have some things to root for.

After the Packers win their playoff game against the Giants today (full disclosure; the author was born and raised in Wisconsin), flip to the 69th Annual Golden Globes, hosted again by the hilarious Ricky Gervais. Though it's no surprise there were no nods for the likes of last year's Green Lantern or Thor or new comic-related programming like Young Justice, there are a few categories for comics and horror/sci-fi fans to root for tonight. So grab a bowl of popcorn, and keep an eye out for these nominees and their categories:

Hugo for Best Motion Picture: Drama

The Adventures of Tintin for Best Animated Feature Film

Howard Shore/Hugo for Best Original Score: Motion Picture

American Horror Story for Best Television Series: Drama

Johnny Galecki in The Big Band Theory for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series: Comedy or Musical

Jessica Lange in American Horror Story for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television

and, as magical realism feels close enough to fantasy, and since it was one of my favorite films of the year, I'm also going to mention

Midnight in Paris for Best Motion Picture: Comedy or Musical

Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture: Comedy or Musical

and

Woody Allen/Midnight in Paris for Best Director: Motion Picture

The Golden Globes air tonight on NBC, 8 ET/5 PT
