I like it when successful people from Hollywood write comic books. Stars like Kevin Smith have done so in the past, and now Katee Sackhoff is joining the Hollywood Comic Book Writing Club with her very own Comic Book series 'Verses'.
When TV Guide went to catch up with Katee to talk about her top secret role on '24' Katee was pretty tight lipped. But Katee did reveal something else something more interesting.
This from tvguidemagazine.com:
“I'm launching my own comic book that we're getting ready to launch at Comic-Con next year. It's called Versus. I wrote it with my friend Sxv'Leithan Essex. We're very excited and as soon as I have anything I'll give you a scoop!”
Katee's experience on Battlestar Galactica opened her up to a whole new wonderful world of comics, traditional superhero, Sci-Fi and fantasy fare. Katee goes on to list a few of her inspirations:
“I grew up reading 'Betty & Veronica,” she says. “I was obsessed with it. Every time that we would go on an airplane or on a car trip I would go and get them and now I've become a fan of just the genre in general. It really makes me excited. I'm a huge fan of [comics writer and television producer] Jeph Loeb. I’ve read all his work and I think he’s phenomenal. And I love all the Superman stuff he's done.”
Sounds like her Superman inspiration is well put in place. It should be interesting to see what Katee comes up with giving her background. One has to wonder, does Jeph Loeb have any direct influence on her new comic book titled 'Verses'? One would think so.
There is always two sides to every story. Katee's writing partner Sxv'Leithan Essex is also the creative force behind a new fight club sort of flick named "Growl". Essex gave a little synopsis of the film to ShockTillYouDrop.com:
"A traveling underground fight club called 'The Brawlers' arrive at a derelict ghost town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies. They meet the town's only residents, the Maxilla family who want to buy on to the fight card. But the Maxilla family's true intentions for the Brawler crew is soon revealed in teeth and claws. Some will be hunted, some will be feed, and some will become part of the family...whether they like it or not."

I cant wait to see what type of Comic Book these two can come up with? Should be interesting to say the least.
And just in case you were wondering who Katee thought she was most alike, Veronica or a Betty?
“I was always a Betty, because I felt like identified with her,” she says, “but at the same time Veronica kicked ass, right?”
