Live-Action ARCHIE Movie On The Way...With Zombies?

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has closed all deals for a live action movie based on the long running Archie comic books, but here's the twist: Joining Archie, Jughead, Veronica and co. may well be an army of the undead!

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has finalized a deal to produce a live-action adaptation of the Archie comic series...that may also just contain Zombies. It seems Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been brought on to write the screenplay for the movie, and is also currently working on Afterlife with Archie; a series that sees the Riverdale characters taking on legions of brain-eaters -- so you can see how putting 2 and 2 together equals Zombie. Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore signed on to helm the film, with Roy Lee and Dan Lin producing and Krishnan Menon executive producing. I'm not sure how many (if any) CBMers are Archie fans, but would the Zombie twist tweak your interest at all?

Archie's continuation will never cease to baffle me. I just don't really get it. What is it about Archie that makes him so iconic that he has lasted for over 70 years?

Well in Québec we there was a Archie cartoon that involve paranormal, and zombie were feature. I don't know if it was a translation from a American cartoon or the original language was french, but it was really good.

This seems like a joke that you would see as a trailer in the beginning of Tropic Thunder.

Archie comics has been expanding (very subtly I might add). They've been adding characters to the Archie mythos, rolling out more non-Archie books like the red circle characters. I won't lie, I'm enjoying the MegaMan/Somic crossover. I'd read they were doing this zombie series, but I find it hard to believe they'd make a movie about that so quickly (then again, it could be the ONLY way to get Archie into a successful film).

Getting real tired of Hollywood zombifying everything. Not a single creative mind in all of L.A.

I came into a large collection of Archie comics when i was a kid and liked them for what they were, an extended sunday comic type of read. I'm not sure how that is going to translate to film. I'd be interested in seeing it though.

They already made a live action Archie Movie and it was awful.

Why would WB pay another company for comic book rights when they have an entire back catalog of some of pop cultures most recognizable characters.

The mind boggles!

Decisions like this are why marvel movies are Killing WB DC movies...

Archie...with Zombies??? really???
(let me guess the train of thought: "well family movies always do well... oh hey, Zombies are hot right now too... lets combine the two!!!! yeah great idea! , PLUS its based on a comic book series which is SUPER HOT right now1 Its a SURE THING! GO TEAM WB High five!")

this just reinforces my arguments about WB

The ONLY good thing(s) about Archie Comics is Sonic The Hedgehog (+Sonic Universe) and Mega Man. Archie is not only a terrible series, but a bad influence for so many reasons.

So WB decides they want to get in on the CBM gravy train and instead of riding the wave with the huge rooster of recognizable and interesting DC characters they already have access to, they instead go to Archie comics. Oh, and added zombies so they can ride that fad too.

There are not enough facepalm gifs on the planet to properly express the level of fail that has occurred here.
