I was on ign.com comic page and saw that there's news that Marvel will cancel four Avengers titles: DARK, NEW, MIGHTY, and INITIATIVE. These will end with SIEGE.

Could this mean more? I was thinking how could DARK continue if HEROIC AGE is coming? We may see new titles that are sequels, or entirely new ones.

GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

once norman gets taken down, there will be no need for Dark Avengers (let those villains all go back to being the villains they were before the charade).

and there will be no need for "New" and "Mighty" once the trinity gets back together and creates the first REAL Avengers team since Disassembled.

its a glorious day! New and Mighty are just getting so old and tired. and i'm tired of bendis' style of writing and how he has to make every character a smartass like spidey is.

maybe it's like waht happened after One More Day.
Marvel turned four Spider-man series into a single bi-monthly series.
this will make it Much easier to keep track of what's goin' on with the Avengers!
;p

Everything in Marvel universe is getting streamlined to coincide with their new movies. I would even say the Planet Hulk movie, changing Silver Surfer to Beta Ray Bill is in line with that.

Geoff Johns' run on the Avengers was a thing of beauty. Too bad it ended so soon..

It took me awhile to warm up to Bendis style, but I'm fine with it now. For those who don't like it, you're in for a rough ride since he's running the Avengers title(s) through at least 2012.

in all honesty, the only thing it'll hurt to see go will be Initiative. i LOVE that series. it's actually very well done

@ telavizion

there won't be only one Avengers title.

more than likely Dark Avengers will be cancelled.

Mighty Avengers will become the core Avengers title. (Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and the recognizable "classic" characters)

New Avengers will become Avengers West Coast/Secret Avengers (something along those lines) (probably the new avengers characters)

and Avengers Initiative will become Avengers Academy.

i'm sure there will be some roster shake ups, but thats how i see it working.

This doesn't sound to surprising to me, It's pretty standard to consolidate after a big event.

Hopefully the streamlining keeps Wolverine and Spider-Man out of the Avengers as well. I love both characters, but neither one fits the mold of what the Avengers were about before Disassembled. The Avengers are the guys that take down threats on a cosmic or at least international scale when needed, and neither one of them fits the bill there. Avengers have generally been the heaviest of heavy-hitters for Marvel. Being an Avenger used to be like the highest honor a hero could receive in the Marvel Universe. Now it's like they'll bring in anyone who is willing to pull on tights.

Wolverine is horribly overexposed now, and I'm saying this as someone who read through the 80s and 90s when he guested in just about every title. Let him stay in the X-titles with guest appearances elsewhere on occasion, but they need to scale back a bit. Beyond that, Wolverine was always supposed to be an outsider, someone who walked outside the law in the grey area of morality and society. Making him an Avenger goes a bit too far.

Spider-Man is the "every man" of the Marvel Universe, and he's always struck me as someone who's much better suited to the smaller-scale stuff, like dealing with city-level stories. It's not that he can't go toe-to-toe with some of the threats they face, but more that it takes away from the qualities that made him great to begin with. He was the epitome of the underdog for decades. The Avengers are anything but underdogs.

Make them both reserve members, so they can continue to guest occasionally, but let the focus be on the real Avengers.

no way they would get rid of two titles that are best sellers for the company. they'll rename and possibly renumber them, but don't expect them to all go away completely. and they are reassembling the avengers. the new avengers title will be the avengers we all know and love. but there will be a "west coast" style title also, that i think will probably have the characters like wolvie, cage, and spidey...people that aren't classic avengers characters.
