There may have been points in both these patriotic characters histories where they've turned their back on their beloved USA for whatever reason, but there's no doubting the fact that both Captain America and Superman each represent some of the greatest aspects of the country they so proudly call their own! Captain America fought for America during World War II and many years later once again took on that responsibility when he was awoken in the present day. Superman, an alien from the doomed planet Krypton, crashed in Kansas and was brought up by his adoptive parent to fight for, "Truth, Justice and the American way!"

While both superheroes may be linked to America, they each also protect the world as a whole, and many argue that Superman in particular represents the good in all of us, rather than just a singular country. The same of course could be said for Captain America...despite the slightly more obvious name! Well, you guys were asked which of these superheroes you considered best represent the USA, and here are the results!

Captain America
2,013 Votes (58.40%)

Superman
1,434 Votes (41.60%)

What do you guys think of these results? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

Damn, that's a hard one. Superman is my favorite, but I have to side with the red, white and blue for this one. Captain America, F--- yeah!

Supes "fighting for earth" is the ONLY reason he was not elected.. perhaps the recent "denouncing of His US citizenship" played a small roll in these results as well. Even as it being a stand alone issue..

Obviously Captain America is going to win. He has AMERICA in his name. Like I said before, Captain America is more patriotic but Superman is more Iconic and known.

You guys remember "God bless Amereica... and no place else."? HaHa! I love that movie...

Of course Cap wins! America is in his name. He wears a red, white and blue suit. He has American flag sheets and matching pillow cases, etc... lol.

Stupid old Superman is just dedicated to protecting all of mankind... that A$$hole!

I just have to ask why Wonder Woman was not included in this poll. I mean, she may not be a natural born US citizen, BUT she does wear essentially the American Flag on her as a costume. Plus she did defeat the Nazis to help us win WWII, where would we have been without her? Captain America got frozen before the war ended... (Do love me some CAP though)

of course cap is the winner. his name is captain america for [frick]'s sake. superman is an alien who just happened to land in kansas. he fights for all humanity. his name is superman, not americaman or superamerican. enough with the stupid american patriotism...

Superman officially lost his patriotic status when Perry White said in Superman Returns, "Truth, Justice, and all that good stuff."

I'm only shocked that Cap didn't beat him by more votes...

That Superman story where he denounced his citizenship was a stand alone story, in other words: it didn't count. And Cap was Nomad and the Captain for awhile, remember. So....I'm with Cap on this one but I sure do like supes too.

Captain America is as patriotic as Superman and everyone should know that he fought Hitler and Tojo, just like Cap fought the Red Skull. And everyone that keeps throwing out the whole "he was born on Krypton thing", keep in mind that the ONE thing that makes America special is the fact that it is made up of "aliens" or immigrants if that's the term you prefer. He is the Ultimate Immigrant and represents us all as Americans and as individuals. Plus, Superman has a theme song thanks to the Richard Donnor movies and if that song isn't the most patriotic song next to the damn National Anthem, I don't know what is. Now that that is cleared up, Cap wins. He expresses the love for his country every chance he gets, even when not necessary. Wears the colors of the flag no matter how many times he changes his outfit and never stop fighting for good, even when the battle is lost in the eyes of others. To me, the colors and name give him the edge but in my opinion, Captain America and Superman both represent very important aspects of this country that make us so great.

how did Superman get 42% of the vote. if this was 30 years ago and he still stood for Truth Justice and the AMERICAN way then you could argue he is the most american most patriotic superhero. For [frick] sakes it is Captain America. Hell America is in his [frick]ing name, how can you choose differently

but the truth is that Superman is just everyone's favorite ILLEGAL ALIEN...literally.
