Should ComicBookMovie.com include comic book news?

Without a doubt this is the best site online for comic book movie news. Allowing users to upload news articles means that this site has not only the most diverse range of news but also a lot of news items that other sites dont pick up on and that we would all otherwise miss. As well as news, the site also offers users the chance to upload their own take on things with "Editorials" and fan casts, art and stories in the "Fan Fic" section of the site However, I think that there is one very important thing missing from this site...

And that is comic book news. Now, I know that the clue is in the title - the site is a movie website. Still, after seeing CBM user SoratheKey's recent articles featuring comic book previews and solicitations (and really enjoying them) I'd like to see a new tag on the site for just this sort of thing! After all, the comic book movies that we all so passionately debate and discuss are of course all obviously based on comic books so wouldnt we all like to a section on the site in which we could discuss those as well?

As long as these general comic book news story didnt suddenly take over the main page, then I dont think that this would compramise the CBM's integrity as a site dedicated to movie news. Now, Im not trying to influnce or force CBM into doing anything remotely like this...Im just interested in seeing what you guys think of this idea! I for one would like to have to only visit this site for my comic book movie and general comic book news! As ever, thanks for reading!

It was about 8 lines worth dude lol, okay um, i'll make it short..

Good idea, coz this is COMIC BOOK MOVIES, so a comic book section would be nice, also though i reckon we need another FAN FIC section too, one for some of the stuff, and one for the others coz its mad in there lol.

I'd love to see more traditional comic related news, but I can see how it could completely take over the site :o)

I would like to have it included...but none of that stuff should ever make it to the main page, unless it's something huge like the death of Captain America. Or Megan Fox.

Just have a really prominent place on the main page where you can click to keep up on it, that's my solution.

Actually, what would be wrong with those categories? Toy collectors could find news faster, gamers could find news faster, etc. Look, we're all geeks that are on this site everyday...but some people check it every once in a while, and that would make it easier. Maybe instead of the tiny tabs we just need a remodel of how the main page looks? You're right it does tend to get a little crowded feeling.

i thought its what we do already. or are we just refrencing the comics for the movie? I think we should. make a category for comicsor tab or something. the more the better. Dont we want to expand for more people to come here and visit the site.

JOSH @ Kudos, hey im thinking if the popular stories was put somewhere else, they'd be more room for a COMIC BOOK section an maybe a COMIC BOOK merchandise section too, with a seperate FAN FIC, theres deff room there on Main.

MULTI: Maybe...Im just a little worried that CBM will think Im stepping over the mark if I start creating polls to try and get them to change the whole site, lol! Though in all seriousness, I think that the site is great as it already is! Whatever happens though, I really think that CBM would benefit from a comic book section, though you are right that this site is comicbookmovie and adding too many categories could be a bad thing - its a harder question that i originally thought!

LEE: Yeah, i could see that working! Though thanks to MULTI Im now having some doubts, lol! Maybe "Features" and "Editorials" could be combined as they're pretty similar!?

@Multi - I hear ya man! The redesigning of the site was kind of a side idea, since we were talking about not cluttering up the main site. I think that the only headlines really should be the movie news...but that there could be links to the side for each of them. But yeah, I agree about a different poll on making it easier to find your way around the site a bit. I do see where you're coming from though...

And I've looked at Earths Mightiest before too...but it just doesn't interest me as much. If you look at their main page news, the last thing posted was back in September..other than the Prison Break news. Not hating on that site, just saying that THIS one is very fast with news! I always feel confident coming to CBM.

And then look at "What's New" it's not updated too often. That's all I mean...I don't go there often, so when I do, and the news is dated old, it's not as appealing. But I do go to CBM often...you look at "What's New" on CBM and it runs circles around EM...that's all I'm saying. I wouldn't even care if the links for Toys or Gaming that you clicked here took you straight to the EM site, if they are updated. I do totally see where you're coming from, just have a little different opinion.

but when you see :Comicbookmovie... yea you know its movies about comics.. but you also think it would have comics section too...

multi... a moot point? but if it could benefit cbm why not? yes they have the other site earthsmightiest but i am already comfortable over here. CBM is growing, why not grow with it...expand what they already have instead of inconveniencing others to go somewhere else. They could loose people that way.

I've never been on EarthsMightiest.com until a few minutes ago...Im kind of shocked! Its a good site but pretty bare and noticably quiet! Fan Fic only has two items in it and the news is not hugely up to date.

Thats why I like IGN' comics site - I go onto their comic site and then I click a tab above and im on their comic book movie site, then their comic book games site and so on and so on...i like my news all under one roof! And this site is already better than IGN - apart from comic books, they're actually quite a bit behind on some news!

I really hope that this article gets put on the main page - because the discussion is a really interesting one!

MULTI: The most recent comic news that the site has is from 28th Sep and is about a fan made Thor poster! Im telling you man, I think that this idea could really work especially if you combined "Editorials" and "Features" - two almost identical categories!

Im not a big enough egomaniac to think that this poll will influence CBM in any way (and im not trying to bully them - i just wanted to see what everyone else thought about this) but if it were to ever happen i think that it will only help the site get better and bring even more people here!

I thought everyones been there?! Its a good site only problem is you've got to log in and out all the time, plus its less comic book and more sci-fi and horror an stuff, but there is no section there for comic book anyway, so it would be nice to have one here!

IGN.COMICS SITE wtf is that??

As my grandmother would say, "It'll make the site too "busy"!" Way too much info would pass through the site and you would end up having to go through the archives to see an article from yesterday.

I would however be all for a "sister site" with a scrolling news feed of that site on the main page here. Wouldn't that solve all the problems above???

Love the article... You know when I started posting the Previews and Solicits.. I never acctually thought it would be an issue...

@To all who said no: I do think CBM.com as a comic book site... and although it focuses on movies it needs comic book news in them...

Let me give you an example... If a person who never read an X-Men comic but saw the 90s X-Men TV series and then X3 came to the site and said the movie was good... What would you do?

You would probably ban the person for life... and he won't have an idea as to why comic book fans don't like the movie... a Comic book news tab could clarify things like that...

Why not call the "Features" category "Comic Features" instead. I like "editorials" like it is. I rarely go to "features" unless I'm really bored and everyone's asleep.

Not having a section devoted to comics themselves is like Christians watching "The passion of the christ" every sunday instead reading from and studying the bible.

Ew, I brought christians into it. It was the only analogy I could think of!

I'd rather this stay as a site just for comic book movies. There are sites out there for comic books news already, and there's a reason I don't go to them - I don't follow that news, and I don't care. If I had to wade through a bunch of news about comic books in general to find news about movies I'd likely find a more focussed site to go to.

If it had its own separate tab and was contained there I wouldn't complain, but its not something I want.

Not sure about the extra tab, but I’d like to see more news about comic books.

The current trend in comics seems to be creating artwork and storylines as samples for upcoming movies to gauge fan reaction for their ideas so studios have a better idea what direction to take.

So it's definitely worth hearing about upcoming projects, to gain better understanding on their take on a character / plot intended for film.
