The plot behind Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's Nemesis is definitely a fresh one. For once, the focus of the story will be on a supervillain without a superhero in sight. The main character, aptly named Nemesis, is the world's smartest, toughest and quite possibly richest costumed persona. He's also completely bat-shit crazy. He's basically a serial killer with a cape and cowl. The only thing standing between his sadistic tendencies and the general population are the police.

The comic series opens with Nemesis taking on Japan's top cop, and it doesn't far well for him. After systematically destroying the lives of every police chief in Asia, Nemesis turns his focus to Washington D.C.

Mark Millar has already confirmed that he is pursuing a Nemesis feature film, but has yet to lock down a studio or director. With the success of his latest comic book adaptation Kick-Ass all but guaranteed, it won't be long before he hits the ground running this this property.

so this is how good comic book movies are made now, first hollywood pays comic writers and creators to create a new comic that they plan on making into a movie. so they take the money make the comic and one year later when the comic is selling well, they let all comic fans know that there making the comic into a movie.

Well, you knew it would be graphic. Millar is an egomaniac that has turned himself and his properties into a PR machine but he has delivered the goods so far.

Looks nice and I like the concept. Nivens art is always fleshy so I will definitely be graping the first issue.

Still I think Hollywood should start to focus more on the likes of Flash and Wonder Woman, instead of doing the half-finished ideas of the top of Millars head...

My God, this look amazing! Millar and McNiven really delivered the gore in Old Man Logan and I have a feeling this will be even more graphic, lol! Speaking of which...

Guys, check out my epic OLD MAN LOGAN Fan Cast!!! Just click the link!!!

MULTI: I'm not sure if you're referring to Nemesis but Miller hasnt actually sold the rights to this as a movie as of yet!

Personally, I dont blame Millar for taking every chance that he can to get interviewed! How many other comic book writers get the same opportunity? He's promoting himself and his work and I would do the exact same thing. He's one of the best comic book writers around today and as long as his work stays as good as it currently is, then I have no problem with hearing him talk about that or his planned projects.

@Josh: Agreed. Millar's an ego-maniac, but I'd probably be promoting stuff the same way. As long as we don't get any more action movies starting Mr. Tumnus.

The art looks amazing in this!!! The color shading, the details, the thin lines, everything looks amazing for this!!! I'll definitely buy the TPB when it gets out!!!

Oh and kick ass looks like shit cause Romita Jr. is pencilling it. HEY ROMITA, look at Nemesis and take notes!!! THIS is how you draw a comic!!!

Shaman

TNTjesus- I think the character likes to wear white cause it gets splattered aplenty! I think he'll be sadistic enough to want to get each suit as splattered as possible! He is a rich nut after all LOL ;P

Good analogy, Multi! That sounds about right LOL :P

TNTjesus- He's pretty much the anti christ LOL He seems to be the mother of all villains in a world with no caped superheroes. The hero will be a straight up detective apparently. Which is kinda cool actually! Kinda like Sam & Twitch trying to take down a maniacal Batman ;)
Betty
Betty - 3/18/2010, 12:27 PM
TNTjesus + Shaman-- I think it's just a reversal of the rule that good guys wear white and bad guys wear black. And if he were black he would look exactly like bats with the ears cut off.

Multi-- Haha, nice.

AT LEAST MILLER DOSENT DO CAMEOS IN HIS FILMS
ElBeaster
ElBeaster - 3/18/2010, 1:24 PM
Miller doesn't do cameos in his films because they're made before he even realizes he sold the rights.

I'm not saying I wouldn't sell the movie rights either, but it gets annoying. He calls himself a comic book writer, but if he had sold the right before even starting the comic, then he's more of a screenplay writer.

I heard(and correct me if I'm wrong) that Wanted was nothing like the comic and that the movie was better. So really it was just loosely based on an idea. I mean, there really isn't that much depth to his writing. He just sells the rights and has been lucky that the movies are beeing well made. Then the fans of the movie start buying his comics. Alan Moore is so much better, but his comics don't sell as well anymore because a few of his adaptations got turned to crap.

Instead of making mediocre comics that were made to be movies into great movies, I think they should take amazingly written comics and make them into amazing movies. Comics that were made with the fans in mind instead of a dollar sign. Like Sandman, Preacher, or Top Ten. Just my opinion.

CloydeSyfox - 3/18/2010, 2:15 PM
Well Wanted was a lot different from the movie. However the beginning of both were pretty much the same. Except instead of the guy being in an office he was about to have gay sex. "Not that there's anything wrong with that"

I liked both though.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/18/2010, 2:38 PM
y'know, Millar can do whatever he wants with his characters. he created them AND he owns them. if he wants to make them into movies, it doesn't mean anything. he's not "selling out" if that was his plan from the get go.

there's a common misconception that comic writers and artists make tons of money...well they don't.

if he's creating things to make them into movies, then more power to him. and who cares, we're getting entertained. we win either way.

Why do comics have to be so violent these days? Is it a lack of good ideas? I don't read comicbooks to be sickened. I don't mind good and bad heroes beating the tar out of each other, but I'm not reading for the blood, gore, intestines and swearing. It's why I won't read Sin City. Even the Sword (which I like) got a bit too graphic in issue #23 with the villain ripping out the female hero's womb.

It's just going too far.
