Editorial Opinion

Okay I just had to vent about all the frickin people who cry and groan about their articles not being on the "Main" tab and/or getting deleted. To you, I say, "Get over it."

Seriously. Not everyone has to get on Main. In fact, I find most of the best articles are on the other tabs. Some of you seem to have this delusion that nobody goes on the other tabs yet if you click on an article there are comments.

You people who gripe and complain are showing that you are nothing more than "Glory Hounds." You are not satisfied unless you are on the front page like it's some stupid competition. Then you blast the Editor's (Mostly Poni) because you think they are unjustly targeting you and that is not the case.

The fact is they are editors and they are going to either make your article better (which they have done for me quite a few times; Thank you ^_^) or if it's a frickin mess just delete it. That's their job. In fact, it's not even their job to make it better, they could just delete it. Yet, a lot of times they will sit down and fix it to help us.

If I was an editor, I would've deleted all the stupid Spider-Man reboot articles. I don't think everyone has to give their heart felt reasoning as to why it should. Also why bitch at the people who LET you contribute to their website without credentials or a degree in journalism.

Simply, I am venting but also to tell those to GET OVER IT! Now this may get deleted and you know what. I AM OKAY WITH THAT. Because I don't need an article on here to feel I have accomplished something and that I am worthy of anything, which no offense that's how a lot of you come off.

No hard feelings. Keep bringing the news, but please get over yourselves.

EDITOR NOTE

And, in a shocking twist, InstigatorGIRL's article makes the main! Get over yourself!

Well said IGirl! If someone has an issue, I would suggest emailing the editor or Galactus himself. It does seem childish to bitch & moan about it in the comments, thats where we get to bitch & moan about everything else!

Great words Igirl! I agree

yeah I get so sick of all that crap. I don't get it. I don't understand why everybody is always fussing about that stuff.
It's also unbelievably wrong how much flak Multi gets.

btw does anyone know the outcome of all that uproar last night with Cookiepuss and Multi? Cookiepussproductions like posted three articles and then this morning they were all gone. Multi kept telling him he was doing it wrong but the kid wouldn't listen.

Damn straight.

Its not easy being an editor, a job where you take a rough draft and fine tune it to a more professional one. You have to be critical to do something like that, and a lot of people dont take criticism well. They take it as 'I'm doing something wrong' and get defensive. Not true. Rough drafts are generally the collected thoughts on whatever is being written about, and more often than not, off-the-top-of-the-head thoughts are not very well organized. Editors have the same problem, and need other editors to correct that. They are not tyring to put you down by askin you to re-write articles and whatnot. They just want you to sound consisce and thoughtful when you submit something... i.e. trying to HELP you. Anybody who bitches about that kind of thing needs to grow up.

Also, for those who whine about not being on the main... why is it such a big deal? You are not winning any award. Sure, more people might see it if its on the main, but is that really why you are writing these articles in the first place? To gain recognition? I thought we all just came here to hear comicbook movie news and discuss them, not to become popular among a lot of annonymous people you will never meet. Sure this is a social community, but do we really need to compete with each other? Why not just be happy we can come to a place and post articles with little to no constraints to your creativity on just about any subject you desire (fan fic, editorials... ect)?

... sorry this sort of competetive shit pisses me off.

@IveBeenHereB4uALL--is "Pandering" the only word you know...?

@InstigatorGIRL--Great article...and it's actually going to prompt me to go ahead and get around to thanking whoever it was that edited my first ever article I wrote for this site (It was an article that revealed the title of the upcoming Tron movie, for those wondering). So, whoever you are, thanks-I know that was a particularly difficult one to edit, mainly because I wrote it in five or so minutes, and I'm glad you took the time.

InvestigatorGIRL well said.
IveBeenHereB4uALL Here is were you are wrong.

{This is the worst kind of censoring, i've ever seen. Just because you don't agree with a person 100% percent you delete their viewpoint... what kind of journalist are you guys.}

It is not the job of a journalist to write about their opinion. A journalist reports facts about a story. here is the definition of journalist: A journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues. His or her work is acknowledged as journalism. No where in there does it say anything about reporting their view point. So maybe it wasn't that they disagreed with your article but maybe it was a little bias. There for they are doing their jobs as Editors of this site. If you want to express your opinion then leave it in the message boards with the rest of our comments.

Sadly I had an article deleted once though it was probably only worthy of being a comment and didn't deserve it's own article. But I didn't cry about it, well not for very long anyway. But I'm proud to say that I've had two out of three articles remain on the site, one made if to main and they were not edited in the slightest. They even let me keep my Douglas Adams qoutes in the preview part even though they had nothing to do with the topics of the articles. I have noticed articles that have been posted first have been deleted but generally find that the ones that survive the cut are a lot better. I would prefer a site that goes for qaulity over who got in first after all as long as we're all getting out CBM related news I don't think it matters who's name's at the bottom of the article.

HAHAHAHA on the editor's note XD

@Ozy I will not say whom my inspiration was because the inspiration came from more than one source, but Ozy no worries I still enjoy your articles.

@Ivebeenhereyadayadayada I'm sorry that I don't see what I wrote as kissing ass. I was just giving the appreciation the editor's deserve. And you want the truth? Here it is: Get a life. If your this ass hurt over your dumbass article then thats sad. The truth is this is not your website therefore no one on here makes the final decisions on articles but the Editors. Now I have had articles deleted but it doesn't get my panties in a wad because as much as I love this site I have a life away from it and your egotistical bitching above proves that you must not. Now with all due respect... Stick a tampon in it and come back when the blood is going to your brain and not leaking from your... you know... lmao.

JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 1/17/2010, 7:44 AM
Good article InstigatorGIRL...however, I have to disagree with a few of your points!

I mean, why would you have deleted all of the Spider-Man reboot article? Sure, there were a lot but each of them apart from maybe one or two contained valid news about the movie!

Though I've been curious in the past about why an article I've done has been moved or deleted, CBM have always told me why and I've never had a problem with that! (and it would be pretty sad if I did after all!)

I do understand the frustrations that some have though - for example, I dont agree with MULTI yesterday posting his Green Lantern article under "Reviews" to work on it whilst a few others then posted completed version under "News" which were later deleted. Basically, thats just posting an article with a headline unfinished just to be the first to have posted the story!

you hit the nail on the head! its so irritating to hear people complain about their articles. Ozy is the worst of everyone, but he's by far not the only one. i just don't get the whining...it makes people sound like such babies.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 1/17/2010, 7:55 AM
Oh and no offence in the least to you InstigatorGIRL but I do find it a little unfair that more and more editorials like this are making the main page whilst THEHAWK's brilliant 330 character X-Men fan cast didnt! The guy put months of work into that!
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 1/17/2010, 8:00 AM
@ darth and dogs

Multi has told Cookiepuss NUMEROUS times that he needs to site his sources for his articles, yet he never does. the site can't have a bunch of articles get posted with no sources, thats plagiarism and could really hurt the site.

so i would imagine thats why his articles got deleted. doesn't matter how good an article is, if there's no sources, then its done by a hack, plain and simple
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 1/17/2010, 8:05 AM
@ ivebeenhere

you know your stan lee article got deleted because you only wrote it to get a rise out of people. it was troll shit. but its not like you'll ever read this comment, since you only show up in articles to talk shit in one comment and then never return to back up your claims...by the way, thats the definition of a troll.

InstigatorGIRL - 1/17/2010, 8:14 AM
@josh. I was hinting at my frustrations that when I come on here all I see are Spiderman reboot articles. lol. I wasn't that serious about deleting. Also I never expected this to be taken serious and never wanted it on main. lol
@LEEE all I seem to hear is "why is this on main but mine or so and so is in news or yad yada?" or "why did my article get deleted?" Someone also has something to bitch about with theirs' or someone else's article. How am I missing the point? Please explain what the point is? Enlighten me...

JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 1/17/2010, 8:23 AM
InstigatorGIRL: Hey, I'm glad this made the main page because there are far too many users here that do make an annoying fuss over having their articles deleted or whatever - hopefully this will put an end to that sort of stuff at least! :)

I wasnt directing that comment just at this article - I think its great that CBM puts the occasional editorial on the main page - I just meant that there are loads of editorials put on the front page like BulliedNerd's article about fan casters which seems to have only ever been put there to cause arguments rather than valuable discussions - when something like that makes the main page, I just feel that it damages this sites reputation!
FateSucks
FateSucks - 1/17/2010, 9:04 AM
Personally I enjoyed the site a lot more prior to the explosion of user generated content. Most of these "articles" are little more than poorly written garbage opinion pieces. I don't understand the political idiocracy that has taken over this site. As if many of you are better at casting, or writing than the people who make a living in the film industry. More times than anything I can't bring myself to be totally honest because some boneheads just wouldn't be able to take a critique, and some have slammed me for not agreeing with their opinions.
InstigatorGIRL, I wish you were harsher in your article, because I think you pulled some punches that needed to be thrown at full strength. (as I struggle with just the right tone myself).
It seems that the owners of CBM have lost their way. Prior to "fancasts" and "editorials" and the proliferation of IMHO being said on supposed news stories, this was a terrific site, now not so much. Sometimes letting the inmates run the asylum is a good idea (that new Batman Game) other times it seems as if ad rates based on hits has clouded the judgement and let children take over and look in every few minutes to see what is going on with their retarded op:ed about their particular soapbox stand.

Enough! No more stupid poll's about who should be cast in roles. No more broken english (from lifelong english speakers) articles. Please, just NEWS on the main page, and let the inmates stay in the back pages, and fansites. Josh has a good point about how CBM's reputation is at stake, the thing is.... he's right, just not to the proper degree... all op:ed's should be off the main page. User generated material, keep in the user areas.

GATOR @ Point is, lots of sh1t makes main and real news doesn't, many of times ive found real important stuff filed under other sections, most ppl don't know anything passed main, but two of the same article makes in on there sometimes(?) hell, it seems an EDITOR if they find something it makes main straight away if its that good or not, but if anyone else finds something good, they gotta hope it MIGHT make main, even if it really should do, and sometimes it only does do like 8 hours later when someone can be bothered to put it there and then its totally ignored because of lots of new news on top of it, point is, if its worthly of front page, it should go on there near enough straight away, when seen!!

Ive seen many guys articles be totally ignored that needed main status.

Hell, wont go even into FAN-FIC lol, but on a dead news day it would'nt hurt if you get what i mean.

Main should be MAINLY (lol) for NEWS!

P.S. Ive been told NERD was UNDERHILL, dunno if that was true but NERD said he was, pretty sad.
