Trailer Battle Results: MAN OF STEEL vs PACIFIC RIM vs G.I. JOE 2 vs STID vs THE LONE RANGER

We have had a great couple of weeks for trailers here on CBM, so we asked you guys to choose your favorite. Obviously the big one was Man Of Steel, but you might be surprised at which movie came out on top..

Feature Opinion

Okay, so you probably won't be surprised! But I think it was always gonna be that superb trailer for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot. It wasn't even a close race - Man Of Steel charged ahead with 1,012 Votes (64.62%). In second place, but still way behind, was the (slightly disappointing imo) trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim with 356 Votes (22.73%). The very impressive announcement teaser for Star Trek Into Darkness was next with 149 Votes (9.51%), and the pretty lacklure looking trailers for The Lone Ranger and G.I. JOE: Retaliation were left for dust..

Pacific Rim over Star Trek? Really?

Rim might've had one of the worst trailers I've ever seen

I was torn between Pacific Rim or Man Of Steel. That Star Trek one wasn't all that great.

I didnt like the Man of Steel trailer. The footage wasn't bad or anything, but it still felt kind of uneventful and mellow like the first one.

Personally, I don't love Superman, but I'll watch the first two when I see them. This movie LOOKS pretty good, but all of Zack Snyder's movies have LOOKED good. I liked Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians was okay, 300 bored the hell out of me, and Sucker Punch was effing dreadful. Color me skeptical on Man of Steel. The movies I'm anticipating next year in order:
Iron Man 3
Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
Thor: The Dark World
Pacific Rim
Star Trek: Into Darkness
The Wolverine
GI Joe Retaliation
Catching Fire
then way down the wire, Man of Steel and Lone Ranger (getting way sick of lazy Johnny Depp.)

I must be the only one that out of all the trailers listed thinks that Pacific Rim looks the best. Nothing against, Man of Steel cause it does look really good but it has that same presence (not dark and gritty) that The Dark Knight trilogy has. What happened to fun action movies? Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World are my second and third most anticipated movies of 2013 behind Pacific Rim. I don't want logic when I see an action movie. I want a good plot, acting, ect, ect and just an overall FUN movie.

I liked the man of steel trailer. I think it's overrated though and not nearly as amazing as people keep making it out to be.

I still think(hope) the movie will be awesome however.

Pacific Rim was my favorite.

WOOOOOOOO! MOS is #1!!!

1. Man of Steel
2. Star Trek: Into Darkness
3. Pacific Rim
4. G.I. Joe: Retaliation
5. The Lone Ranger

You know, I'm very surprised that Pacific Rim got the second most votes. I thought STID would've gotten more votes than Pacific Rim.

After checking out the Man of Steel and Pacific Rim trailers I have come to the conclusion that WB needs to switch these two films in the summer 2013 rotation ASAP.

Pacific Rim gave me a Transformers Revenge of the fallen vibe.A big dumb, loud fun ride one will forget about after walking out of the theater next summer.

Pacific Rim seems to me to be WBs attempt to have its own Transformers franchise while stealing the thunder from their own Godzilla reboot in 2014.

I don't know, but it seems to be a bad call for WB to give its prime summer Dark Knight/Harry Potter July release date to a knock off property instead of the relaunch of a Superman franchise that has been in WBs stable since 1978.

A franchise btw they are depending on to jump start the DC cinematic universe.

WarnerBrother - 12/17/2012, 10:00 PM
For the life of me I don't get the thinking of the suits at WB.

Superman is not Green Lantern.Hes a global brand.Nobody has to be told who he is.They just need to be shown this movie will not be the POS that Superman Returns turned out to be.

Sure Batman Begins came out in June 2005,But July 2005 was set aside for Charlie and the chocolate factory with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton in charge and Nolan hadn't proven himself.

Pacific Rim is not a beloved children's book adaptation or a comicbook adaptation.
And while I love Del Toro, the guy as of yet has not had the commercial success of Nolan or Zack Snyder for that matter.

WB needs to give MOS the push of its movie of the year not Pacific Rim.

Of course it came out on top! If you slap Nolan's name on anything, for some reason it gets undue praise automatically on this site! MOS looked dull and angsty, with bad line delivery, and seemingly crappy writing. Lone Ranger's trailer was better, and that's saying a lot. I hope they step it up with the next MOS trailer, cuz so far I have zero excitement for it, and it's currently a downloader for me. Please prove me wrong Snyder, cuz I WANT/NEED a good Superman movie post Chris Reeve!!!

I know we all have different tastes and i dont mind that. Everyone has their right to opinion but still what was so bad in the Pacific Rim trailer? I mean its giant robots vs giant monsters. What could be more awesome than that.

Ok Man of Steel is most likely gonna be pretty good film but still i liked Pacific Rim trailer more. Probably cause MOS was little depressing.

Pacific Rim gives you samekind of fun like The Avengers and Hellboy.

A Transformers ripoff? Eh... not really, if anything Pacific Rim is a live action take of an anime genre that's been around for decades (Gundam, Neon Evangelion). If you must go the live action route then it's more comparable to Power Rangers/Super Sentai. Transformers didn't even remotely come to my mind but I see now that those are the comparisons this movie is going to be dealing with... *sigh* shame since it looks tons better.

EdgyOutsider - 12/18/2012, 6:50 AM
ToTheManInTheColdSweat: Yes, actually I think TASM is the best Spider-Man film. I'm not saying the overall plot is anything new or original. It's definitely not the best plot but, I feel that everything else about the film is good. Acting, directing, editing, visuals, ect.

imadick: Don't get me wrong, I do like action movies that take themselves seriously (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, ect) but I do like a fun action movie where the audience can have a blast without spending close to three hours in a theater (which seems to be the norm anymore). For me, Pacific Rim looks like it's a movie I'll enjoy the most next year.
