MTV's Splashpage furnishes us with some humorous news.

Stan Lee comments on the latest Thor casting news:

@smilinstanlee I learned that Anthony Hopkins'll play Odin in the Thor movie! There goes my big chance! I'll probably just carry a spear--if I can lift it!
-Stan Lee, Writer ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Ravage 2099")

While Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau hits a roadblock in the editing room:

@Jon_Favreau My editor has discovered World of Warcraft. There goes the release date.
-Jon Favreau, Director ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2")

Even Dan Slott throws out an errant thought about a future CBM:

@DanSlott If they show Micronauts in IMAX, wouldn't that make them just "Nauts"? RT @mike_mayhew Micronauts in IMAX? This could be super-cool.
-Dan Slott, Writer ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Avengers: The Initiative")

@Teabag-how is this good stuff. That means that Stan Lee wont be Odin. He was the best actor for the part. He has so much experience lol.

But that Iron Man 2 stuff sucks. That means they might push back the release date.

Nice, what else can they complain about?

STAN LEE isn't the only disappointed with the crappy pick of ODIN!

Great actor, wrong for this part.

BRIAN BLESSEN all da way! ; D

he was joking, IM2 won't be pushed back. if it did get pushed back because some jobber was playing WoW, he would never work in the industry again.

LEE: You cant want Blessed all that much if you cant spell his name...who's Brian Blessen? ;D

Seriously though, Blessed was a good choice for Odin but I think he'd make a much better Volstagg! He looks far more like him and sounds just as I imagine the character does!

I cant wait to see what Stan Lee's cameo is in Thor...as long as its not as obvious as the stupid one in Spider-Man 3! That would take me out of the moment way too much especially in a film like Thor!

Now, Dan Slott is the guy who should be involved with the Spider-Man 4 script - he writes an awesome Spider-Man!

ROFL at all the world of warcraft talk. SO MANY people play it including myself. i could just imagine people high up in the entertainment industry play it too and get their workers hooked from time to time, lol

Hopkins wasn't my personal choice for Odin, and I'm still a bit disappointed by his casting, but I wouldn't call him a crappy choice. He'll pull off the acting/personality part of Odin, but he doesn't have the physical condition required or the voice.

Stellan Skarsgard is a fantastic actor, and is a giant. He would have been the best Odin IMO.

@Poni - I'm pretty sure that 90% of the people on this site do on a daily basis... You might want to point the finger at yourself..

Though @ JOSH @ He'd make a amazing VOLSTAGG too!!! Good call, the guys gotta be in THOR though, he's made for either part!

MULTI @ Dude! Say HAPPY B-DAY to your missus for me, hope she has a good one!

I think Blessed was too old and "jolly" if you will for Odin. Odin should be serious and dramatic, Blessed is much more fitting to Volstagg. And he's only 5'9", which is too short for Odin.

Marvel would sick that dude with flame hands on the editor if IM2 got pushed back. I'm happy about Hopkins as Odin. Stellan Skarsgard is a great actor as well, but I think makes for a better villain.
@Lee: I don't think I could take blessed seriously as an actor. He's too Santa Clause-esque for me. (rosy cheeks, a belly that shakes like jelly, jolly demeanor, etc.)

@tea: I loved Robin Hood, but try to block out Costner's shoddy performance. Sometimes, other stuff gets lost as well.

BatmanKnight - Are you HIGH?! Stan can't act (even his cameos SUCK!) and he's just plain annoying! I'd take just about ANYONE over 'The Man' for the role of Odin!

In regards to the WOW talk, my buddy apparently was in the same game as Brandon Routh a few times and didn't even know it until a few months later because he always tried to avoid him in games he was in. Then he found out that was who was under that screen name (which I forget now). He said he would just slay people ruthlessly and would almost always die while in the same game. He told me one time that "who ever that one [frick]er is has to be like that one son of a bitch from south park that had no life"

Nice to hear about Odin.

I played WoW and survived, I stopped playing it after two months. It's fun, but not my shot of whiskey, I'll leave that game to my girlfriend which allows me to rock out my 360. I win.
