As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures’ JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice.

Directed by Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), the musical adventure stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis. Jem and the Holograms, based on the iconic Hasbro animated TV series, is written by Ryan Landels and produced by Chu, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, Scooter Braun for SB Projects, Bennett Schneir, and Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis of Hasbro. It's set to be released on October 23rd.

No name property, no name director, no name actors. Unless the trailer is amazing, this thing is gonna fall on it's face.

In more interesting news, I made a soufflè omelette. Tasty as hell.

Holy shit, it's Molly Ringwald. Little bit of eighties. But, really shouldn't this whole film be set in the '80s? When all of this fashion was radical and not just vaguely fun? When youngsters had a genuine lust for life and weren't just pacified zombies with tunnel vision? Eighties or bust, Jem and the Holograms movie. And even then, probably also bust.

Juliette Lewis is a good choice, though. The Licks were alright.

The moment you realise this was made, and not a sequel to Dredd:

Wait, wasn't there a black girl in the old cartoon show? Is she not in this?

Yes the black chick (who appropriately played drums and bass) should stay black. More importantly though, WHERE are the MISFITS?!? What's weird is Juliette Lewis looks like their leader.

@craigferguson She doesn't "look" black, she just looks "ethnic"....

Alrighty. I'll get to work on that time machine so I can send you back to the 1930s.

In the mean time, go have a sandwich.

@DeathAdder I said nothing about what I have or don't have a problem with; but you said some nonsense about black character never getting whitewashed, and I had to correct you, grandson.

And how about we get your cockeyed mommy to make us both sandwiches and call the whole thing off?

Well it's Harold Perrineau's daughter. I have an issue when the race of any character is changed, but more so for minority characters. Why? Well quite frankly you white guys have a wide variety fictional characters to enjoy and identify with. And before someone says something smart, try growing up black in a all white school, and being told you can't be Spider-Man or Batman for Halloween because you're not white.

This is horrible. I don't even like Jem and I would've casted Katy perry as Jem and Ke$ha as the main Misfit. Or Lady Gaga.
The whole teen angle makes no since at all. And the music sucks.
I use to have to watch this with my little sister before my cartoons came on lol

The only reason I was ever interested in Gem was the scifi elements. Where are the lasers? the hard-light holograms? the artificial intelligence?
Without it, you just have Josie and some pussycats.
