VIDEO: Patrick Wilson & Patton Oswalt Discuss Zack Snyder's WATCHMEN

During a conversation between the two actors at the WORD Bookstore Cafe in Jersey City (of which Wilson is co-owner) a few days ago, a fan asked the pair for their thoughts on Zack Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore's Watchmen. Their responses were pretty interesting...

Alan Moore's Watchmen is generally regarded as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time (I'd agree), and Zack Snyder's big-screen adaptation is generally considered... well, something of a noble failure? Personally I really liked it, and found most of the much-maligned changes to the source material to have worked very well. It's also true that Snyder may have been too faithful at other times, but aside from a few missteps (that sex scene for example) I thought it was a brilliant, ballsy take on the comic. But what does Patrick Wilson, who played Nite Owl II, think? Both he and self professed fanboy Patton Oswalt (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) attended a talk at the WORD Bookstore Cafe in Jersey City on January 8th, and were quizzed about the movie by someone in attendance. Their contrasting opinions on where Snyder may/may not have gone wrong in adapting Watchman make for a very interesting watch if you're a fan.

I really need to see a consensus poll on this movie, because I have zero idea of what people actually think of it. People either say it's terrible, good, or the greatest CBM of all time. I think it's one of the greats.

Watchmen is a brilliant film and is exactly the reason I have faith in Snyder with BvS and JL. Its also underrated and underappreciated by many yet very few directors could bring this masterpiece to the screen.

My favorite scene from a Comic Book Movie to be honest:

If Snyder treats BvS and JL with the same reverence he did with Watchmen then we'll have a masterpiece of CBM coming our way.

Watchmen is an amazing adaption. I still loved the way they changed the ending, made a lot of sense.

People didn't like this movie because it was different, ambitious, and not cookie-cutter bullshit that people watch all the time expecting something different (horror movies, Transformers Franchise). Once people see something different that all go Bat-Shit Crazy.

good movie. Has it's flaws but still good.
I'm rather glad that Greengrass departed from the project. His movies are becoming almost too "realistic" and rather dull. Snyder "Watchmen" was very entertaining.
Perhaps they could go with miniseries at some point in a couple of years.

The relationship between Nite Owl and Rorschach is what I hope the Supes/Bats relationship will be like. Friends that argue from time to time.

One of the best in the genre. Also the first fight scene with the comedian and ozzy is one of the greatest fight scenes ever.

The scene that I posted shows that Snyder is a great director. He just needs to stay away from that shaky cam bs and now that he has Fong with him once again, I'm sure he will.
