What I would like to see in the future of CBM’s

Hi, I don’t write here often but every once in a while I get inspired to write an article for some stuff that I feel needs addressing. After having rewatched Various comic book related properties I came up with a list of things I’d like to see in the future of CBM’s. Below you will find a list of stuff I want to see in the CBM movie industry.

1.A connected DC Universe-I always felt that DC should have links between its movies. It allows for more dramatic story development. However, it seems this can’t be the case because of two people; Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder. While I respect the hell out of Nolan’s Batman movies and I’m anticipating Zack Snyder’s Superman, I can’t help but feel they ruin the chances for a connected DC movie universe. What I’d like to see done is a 4th Batman movie from a different director continuing Nolan’s franchise while simultaneously taking some creative charges, like having Superman and Green Lantern cameos. That in turn could lead to Flash cameos in Green Lantern, or a Wonder Woman cameo in Superman, etc. Then, a connected DC universe could be made.

2.More adaptations of slightly lesser known comics-With movies like Kick-Ass and The Green Hornet opening the way to lesser known adaptations of comics, I’d like to see a whole slew of unpopular comics get adapted instead of the same Marvel and DC characters. For instance, one of my favorites, Cowboy Ninja Viking is already in the works. Some others I’d like to see are The Shadow, Chew, Bone, and Afro Samurai. Hopefully this gets done in the near future

3.Adaptations of legendary stories-Sure Wolverine is following the Japan arc and Nolan’s Batman movies draw from certain famous stories, but I’d like to see more legendary arcs adapted into movies, like The Dark Knight Returns and The Kree-Skrull war and Frank Miller’s first run on Daredevil. Hell, I’d even like to see Blackest Night and The Killing Joke turned into movies or the beginnings of a plot for a movie. Make it happen Hollywood please

4.Interesting choices for directors-We usually get typical directors for our CBM’s. Usually people like Zack Snyder who makes nothing but serviceable action movies. Let’s look at the few interesting choices we’ve gotten over the years. Tim Burton and his neo-gothic take on Batman was fun and legendary. Matthew Vaughn for Kick-Ass was an excellent choice. Kenneth Branagh for Thor was an outstanding choice. How come Hollywood won’t give us more interesting choices? I mean, as good as Joss Whedon doing Avengers sounds, it’s not the kind of far out, left field choice that I’d like to see done.

5. Hollywood taking in the fan’s ideas-I admit, I’ve always wanted to see some of my ideas for popular franchises get made into a CBM. I’m sure you want yours too. But the problem is Hollywood won’t do it. Why? Because they think we’re all amateur writers. Some of us are bad writers with poor choices of grammar, and some of us are excellent writers with unique takes on characters. For instance, I’ve always wanted to see my idea for a modern Batman movie set in the 40’s to get made. That probably won’t happen though, because it alienates a mainstream audience and it would only appeal to some hardcore Batman junkies. One potential director actually took the time to make his idea happen though. Kevin Tancharoen actually did what many of us thought impossible. He did a realistic take on Mortal Kombat and subsequently got hired by Warner Bros to produce a web series somewhat based off of it. It’s that kind of example that should drive Hollywood to pick up fan’s ideas for CBMs and let us help decide what’s right.

Sorry ofr the lack of pictures. couldn't come up with any. Hope you enjoy the read.

The last point could cause serious problems, and I hope that NEVER becomes reality.

@Weedbeater: That's happened to me too, and a lot of other people lately although you're the only other person I've heard of who has been the MaskOFRico. It's rather annoying if you ask me.

I love the approach of giving each DC character their own line of films.
Individually, they have a wealth of adventures to draw from involving their own corners of the universe, and the characters can be fleshed out with the villainous and side-kick characters specifically created around them alone.

I know we want to see the characters together, especially with the Avengers coming up, but they have FOREVER to make these films.
Literally, foreverrr.

The J.L is great because in the comics, they had established each hero with their own tales.
I'd much rather see the characters become popular and established in film as their stories are told on-screen.
Then later, do a connected universe.
I'm not into the "NOW NOW NOW" mind-frame a lot of people have.
I know we're dying to see them but no need to rush.
