In the Image graphic novel the Synopsis goes as follows: A spy thriller, is centered on a young Jewish-American man named Benjamin "Ben" Furst, who is initially introduced as a college student studying political science. After passing several tests, including a fake mugging, he is recruited by a beautiful young woman named D. D. into the Central Intelligence Agency and told that he is going to be the first agent of Project Fire, an experiment to test whether training agents out of ordinary citizens can be successful.

The "Fire" feature film screenplay is coming directly from Brian Michael Bendis under producers David Engel and Neal Moritz.

There is no director listed as yet but the report has stated that the "New Avengers" writer closed the deal after shopping "Fire" around to many studios and arriving at Universals door step last Friday.

He also wrote this on twitter: "Yes, my daughter knows I know Zac Efron, it took some explaining. She thought there was a party going on that she isn't invited to."

LEEE777 - Well what do you think about Zac Efron in a comic book movie, and maybe this is a stepping stone to other comic book projects, guess what one i'm hinting about. Thoughts below and thanks to CBM User MrFixit for the heads up.

I'm not a fan of Efron simply because I am not familiar with his work. I think he should branch out.
I don't dislike him simply because of his association with Disney .

Hell, Snake Pliskin himself started out with Disney.

So did Britney Spears..wait, bad example. I can't think of any good ones.

I've said this before, Efron is not my first choice, but I think he could pull off the role in a certain other CBM.

Naw, I love Kurt Russell (not that I'm gay or anything)(not that there's anything wrong with that). I can't think of any OTHER good examples of a young Disney star moving on successfully.

I'm not all that familiar with Efron but maybe this movie will give him a chance to distance himself from his image as that Disney guy from High School Musical! For now though...

I think it's smart on his part. The property is unknown so they won't have us screaming about the perversion of a fan favorite w/ his high school musical arse. Then if the movie is a success and he goes after a more main stream role after that we won't be screaming "that ferry from high school musical!" We'll say "give him a chance, he did good in fire... high school musical singing jack arse"

Not familiar with the comic, but I don't discount Disney actors, but then again, I was raised on Disney movies. Egads, did I just type that?! Unfortunately, the Disney actors that come to mind for me are all old school... Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Julie Andrews, Fred MacMurray, Dick Van Dyke, but all fine actors for their time.

I don't mind Efron being connected with this project simply because I haven't read that book. Hopefully, doing this film will keep him far away from Spider-Man, and even further from the worst casting- EVER!, casting Efron as Jonny Quest, who SHOULD be played by a PRE-TEEN boy.

LEEE and Dmon, Thats the one! My ol' lady brought it home from the library a few days ago. I watched it with that new Fast & Furious movie, Effron was the highlight of that evening... and was actually quite funny.

Assassin666, wow, From where does this animosity spring? lol, I've only ever seen the kid in one movie. I mean, just cause he got his start in those shitty Disney musicals is no reason to hate on the lil basterd so much. To each his own I guess. He must just have one of those faces you wanna punch in your eyes lol. Or maybe your just uncomfortable with how sexy you find him :0 lol just kidding.

Guys, I don't think he'd ever even be considered for Spidey so stop worrying. Matter of fact, I think that whoever they cast for the new Spidey, we haven't even seen or heard of the person yet. I would be surprised if it were a named actor when considering the story route.

MYTH @ I gotta admit too, that 17 AGAIN was quite good, i enjoyed it, didn't think i would lol! : D

Ahhh come on its fun to rip the sh1t out of this ULTI-REBOOT-SPIDEY thing, yeah your right he wont have a hope in hell of getting PP but i gotta admit, he'd be good for this FIRE, he'd also pull a crowd that would'nt normally go and see a movie like this, so its all good, good luck to the guy!

yes... 17 again was suprisingly good! I was happily surprised with it and think Zac did a great job. He was very believable as a "older self" trapped in young body.

Hey LEEE... thanks for the other day..you were right. ;)
