A new still from Jurassic World Dominion puts the spotlight on the terrifying Giganotosaurus, while director Colin Trevorrow has compared the monstrous dinosaur to classic comic book villain, The Joker...

This summer, Universal Pictures is set to finally release the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that will span the globe and highlight a lot of epic dinosaur action.

Each instalment of the franchise has upped the ante, and the past couple of movies have introduced increasingly terrifying and massive dinosaurs to stun and amaze moviegoers. Now, in Colin Trevorrow's threequel, we'll meet the Giganotosaurus, a.k.a. the Giga. "I wanted something that felt like the Joker," the filmmaker tells Empire (via SFFGazette.com). "It just wants to watch the world burn."

The Giga was created by BioSyn, the company that paid Dennis Nedry to infiltrate InGen back in the day. "BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments," Trevorrow explains. "They claim it’s a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on."

"It’s an entirely new kind of movie. It’s the thing I’ve been waiting to do this whole time."

It feels like we're in store for an epic finale with Jurassic World Dominion, and the Giga (which you can see below) promises to make the Indominus Rex look like a complete non-factor in comparison!

The movie also features new cast members DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Scott Haze (Minari) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Returning cast include BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez, and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay by Emily Carmichael (Battle at Big Rock) and Trevorrow, Jurassic World Dominion arrives in theaters on June 10.

Seriously though, how f#ckin' obsessed is post-modernistic culture with nihilism, that we want to implement it as a basic instinct in f#ckin' pre-historic creatures?

@DrReedRichards -
To me, the director's comment is enough proof that the movie's gonna be another mediocre entry in the franchise

Well only the second one is utter garbage but the first is at least watchable.
I was expecting something similar with this one

Dude, they’re dinosaurs. You don’t need to compare it to some bad guy in pop culture to sell me on it. I don’t care if it was inspired by the Joker, Darth Vader or Hannibal Lecter. As long as it’s a big scary monster with a lot of teeth, that’s all that matters.

Can't remember the last time I unironically used this term, but this is insanely cringe-worthy.

What's up with these new Jurassic movies trying to introduce a dinosaur for every [frick]ing movie

Also the Joker comparison kills even the slightest interest I had for this movie. It's a [frick]ing dinosaur

If he's gonna dance, this movie will easily top Avengers: Endgame at the box office, no matter the quality of the movie.

I'll watch it at the cinema at least 5 times.

I'm sorry but can we talk about that name though? Come on, "the Giga" like Gigachad? And he's influenced by the Joker? This is just asking to be meme'd by internet incels.

@JesseCuster - It’s not like “giga” is exclusive to this meme. The Joker part is lame, but “giga” is a pretty common term/prefix.

Jurassic World 1: Oh my God, we accidentally created the most dangerous Dinosaur!

JW 2: Omg, an even more dangerous Dinosaur!

JW 3: Omg, a suicidal Dinosaur!

I'm pretty sure dino's don't even understand the concept of fire, let alone a dino having such motivations.

Anyway, the BioSyn angle sounds interesting. Even though even them must understand by now that creating new dino's isn't the best course of action

what next, they going to splice every dino together and create

seriously dinosaurs are cool enough, no need to make some up

in the build up to jurassic world, pretty sure people were more excited for water dinos than the doritosaurus

Director: Says something that was probably unpremeditated.

Fans: That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Like I'm sure the dude meant to say something along the lines of "it's an animal that kills for sport", and comparing it to Joker in that case isn't terribly inaccurate. Relax guys.
