JURASSIC WORLD Sequel Expected To Kick Off Production Early 2017

A new report has seemingly confirmed the working title and production start date for Universal Pictures' highly anticipated Jurassic World sequel, which has Juan Antonio Bayona at the helm. Come check it out!

There's been a ton of rumors floating around regarding Universal's next installment in their long-running and hugely successful Jurassic Park franchise, but outside of knowing the release date, we really don't know all that much about which direction they plan on taking the upcoming Jurassic World sequel. What we do know, however, is that both of the previous film's stars - Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard - will be reprising their roles as Owen & Claire, respectively, and that the studio has signed Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) to direct.

Yesterday, Jurassic Outpost obtained confirmation that production on the highly anticipated sequel will begin on February 27, 2017 in Hawaii. They're uncertain whether or not this will be when filming starts, although considering the June 2018 release date, it's probably a safe bet that it is. In addition to Hawaii, the film is also expected to spend a good majority of its shoot at Pinewood Studios in London.

As for the plot, last we heard from producer/writer Colin Trevorrow in an interview with Wired, it's going to further expand the world of Jurassic Park:

[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island, that’ll get old real fast. I feel like the idea that this isn’t always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponise it and later on we found it could be used for energy. And this isn’t something necessarily that was in the book but is a seed that I wanted to plant in this movie, is that might be able to grow in more of these movies if they decide to make more of them, is: What if this went open source? It's almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?

He maintains that they don't have any intention to set up a Jurassic World universe by any means, but simply that they want to further explore a world where making dinosaurs is possible and what would happen if other sources gained the ability to do so. He did manage to slip in that quick scene where BD Wong's character is seen fleeing the scene in a helicopter with a complete set of embryos, so there's a very good possibilty we'll get to see those stolen embryos come back into play early on in the sequel.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!
