New Shot Of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII's Millennium Falcon

Disney CEO Bob Iger leans against Industrial Light & Magic's Millennium Falcon for his Fortune Magazine profile. Ten years from now, what will be the better box office earner for Disney, the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the Star Wars franchise?

Disney CEO Bob Iger is standing tall thanks to the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.  In a new profile from Fortune Magazine, Iger poses next to one of the most iconic spaceships of all time, the Millennium Falcon.  With early estimates already predicting that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will easily cross the $1 billion dollar mark, it's easy to see why Iger exudes such confidence.  Ten years from now, which franchise will be the bigger box office performer for Disney, Marvel or Star Wars?

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will be released on December 18, 2015. J.J. Abrams directs from a script he collaborated on with Lawrence Kasdan. Mark Hammil, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher all return to reprise their roles from the original Star Wars trilogy.

I don't think Disney understands what makes Star Wars special, or they wouldn't pump out the 20 Star Wars movies in the next 15 years that I'm sure they will

Yeah, Episode 7 is easily hitting $1 Billion.
And if it's good, probably $2 Billion.

Same with Age of Ultron.

2015's going to be CRAZY.

Ha! It'd be hilarious if it didn't do a billion. Of course it will though. And I agree, it'll probably be the first 2 billion$ movie. I just hope it's a great SW movie. I'm more of a Trekkie and JJ [frick]ed that up for me.

But SW needs another great installment. There've only been two- eps IV and V.

IMO

@lexhairfight

Another big thing would be owning rights to some march madness games with tbs to and also exclusive rights to the nba then. They would also own Cartoon Network so pretty much a monopoly on chirldren tv. There is plenty for them to buy but the cost would be crazy since it is number 2 in entertainment next to Disney. I would also think the government might have a problem with Disney having such a huge market share at that point.
