The website Sky is reporting that a source close to the project has given them confirmation of the Space Jockey's appearence in Prometheus

"I’ve had further confirmation that the Space Jockey creature is definitely in Prometheus and has been built as an eight foot animatronic," said the source.

The source also claimed that HR Giger will be involved and that "an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship" will be featured in the film:

"I’ve also had it confirmed that HR Giger is working on the project but only in an advisory capacity. By the way, people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there’s an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship."

Prometheus hits theaters June 8th, 2012.

I can dig it, although I don't see why you would have an animatronic if you could just do CGI.

Can someone clear this up for me, my knowledge on the alien series isn't that strong. When a facehugger attaches itself to it's victim, does the alien born carry the characteristics of it's host?...for example the alien sprung from the dog in alien 3 was much faster than normal and of course the pred-alien from avp2 (shit movie). may of just answered my question myself lol but would like someone to correct me if i'm wrong. cheers

oh and the picture of the jockecy...is that a face hugger on the face or is that the actual face? cheers again

"Fan favorite space jockey"? How can you have a fan favorite without an actual character? Sounds like a bs rumor and I've never really cared about the "space jockey" anyways. Unless it has something to do with the xenomorphs' origin, I could care less.

I think I heard somewhere that it was the predators who created the xenomorphs for a good hunt...can't recall from where.

I am glad they said animatronic. CGI still does not look as good as real objects do. And yes that movie Avatar was a good tech demo of CGI but it still looked fake.
