Jean-Claude Forest's Barbarella comic book spawned the 1968 science fiction film of the same name that starred Jane Fonda. It was a campy, sex-laden, psychedelic romp that still has its fair share of fans to this day. In early 2013, it was announced that director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) and the writing team of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Skyfall) were working on a contemporary reboot of the series and now Deadline reports that the project has found a home at Amazon Studios. Deadline also reports that Refn was initially going to direct the pilot but is now only serving as an executive producer. Now the series need to find a showrunner and cast its lead. Any suggestions for what actress in today's Hollywood could match the vigor and sex-appeal of 60's Jane Fonda?

The movie is on Netflix. It's a must see. Very corny but super sexy.
My favorite parts are the multiple time her outfits get torn so she has to wear a new one pretty much every scene haha.

Meh, I'd be very surprised if I actually like the casting. And I mean VERY. Jane wasn't just hot, she was sex personified with a effortless sensuality that drew you in. What's considered "hot" in Hollywood today is leagues away from that.

Regardless, I'm still very curious about how this will turn out and it's good to finally see an update on this project. Hope if anything, they can retain that cheesy, psychedelic charm.

Nicholas Winding Refn - cool. "The writing team from Skyfall" - ummm, that inspires a bit less faith, to be honest. But anyway, this could be super, or it could be abysmal. I am interested.

Yeah I'd definitely watch an Alice Eve in a super sexy tv show. But any hot actress who can act will do. And there are a an aweful lot of hot actresses who can actually act. So many in fact that I kinda blows my mind that there's so much talentless eye candy working all the time.

No surprise at all at all no one's complaining about this remake. If a movie was ever ripe for a remake, it's Barbarella. If it's sexy and cool I'm there.

No good can come of this. Barbarella was as close to a perfect Sci-Fi film as there has ever been.

no no no no no! that movie is classic "B" gold! you dont remake B movies...we laugh at them more than with, but thats why we love 'em still.

It would be like WWE bringing in a new "Koko B Ware", or people rocking 'bowl cuts' again!
