A thrilling new trailer for Sir Ridley Scott’s Sci-Fi masterpiece, BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT, commissioned by the BFI and Warner Bros. with support from the Blade Runner Partnership and created by Ignition Creative London, is released today.

BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT (2007) – Ridley Scott’s definitive version – will be in cinemas across the UK from 3 April when it is rereleased by the BFI, giving a new generation of film lovers the chance to experience one of the greatest and most cinematic Sci-Fi films of all time on the big screen. The new trailer captures the energy of Ridley Scott’s 21st century cityscape, featuring some of the film’s most memorable moments with dramatic use of Vangelis’ soaring soundtrack. It has been personally approved by Ridley Scott, currently shooting on set in Eastern Europe.

Commenting on the trailer, Scott said: “The Final Cut is my definitive version of BLADE RUNNER, and I’m thrilled that audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy it in the way I intended – on the big screen. This new trailer captures the essence of the film and I hope will inspire a new generation to see BLADE RUNNER when it is re-released across the UK on 3 April.”

UK Blu-ray owners are screwed for this release, the sub-standard 2-disc UK-release is immeasurably inferior to the 5-disc version produced for the U.S market.
But worth the import if you can get hold of it.

I have the 5 disc DVD set with all 5 version of the movie on it. Though I guess I am still partial to the original version with the voice over by Harrison Ford since that is the version I saw in the theaters when it first debut way back in 1982.

To the question: "there is already a directors cut?" The answer is in 1992 Ridley Scott invented the directors cut, and 2007 he re-cut the movie again. The 1982 release of movie bombed with fans and critics, except for few strange fans including me. The director claimed that studios had meddled with his ideas and it was not really what he wanted. On the tenth anniversary of the films original run in theaters he released what he called "The Director's Cut." In the intervening time, the movie had influenced the visual style and special effects methods used by other movies, so could not have been without its admirers. The "directors cut," however, won the admiration of critics, and gave the film a "cult status." For those of us who always loved the film, it gave us a chance to say we were correct all along. The re-edit was so successful that a lot of other directors got chances to re-edit films they thought were miss-handled by the studio. Sometimes they re-edited more than once (for example Alexander).

On the 25th anniversary of the films release Scott re-edited his re-edit of what was now a widely acclaimed movie. I remember liking the original version, and I think a lot of the so called improvement came from viewers who watched more carefully the second time. On the other hand, I doubt many movies have been improved by studio re-editing the film. Not that directors always do a good job, it is the studios have a way of always making movies worse.

I own the 5 disc and have seen two versions so far. The updated Blu Ray cut is awesome, especially since they had Harrison Ford dub over his original scenes to match up his voice with his mouth in previously out of sink scenes. They even digitally put in the actresses face in other wise noticeable stunt double scenes and the quality is great.
I don't love the film but visually it's amazing and still holds up today.

When will they ever get a version everyone is happy with? This will be the sixth I believe. When will it stop?
