Now that Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) has decided to leave the show behind, the hunt for a new companion for the Doctor has left fans on the edge of their seats for the reveal of who exactly will replace the talented Scottish actress. Well, the BBC has today announced that Jenna Louise Coleman will be introduced in the upcoming Christmas special. She's best known for her roles in British soap opera Emmerdale as well as a Titanic miniseries and a small role as "Connie" in Captan America: The First Avenger.
Talking at a BBC press conference earlier today, she said that she was "beyond excited" to take the role and revealed that she will begin filming in May. Writer Steven Moffat said, "It always feels like a miracle when you find the right person. Jenna is going to lead him his merriest dance yet, and that’s all you’re getting for now. Who she’s playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl."
