With a January debut always in doubt, Lionsgate has finally set a new release date for Doug Liman's long-awaited Chaos Walking. It will now open in theaters and IMAX on March 5, 2021.

The upcoming sci-fi actioner stars fan-favorites Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home; Avengers: Endgame) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Rise of SkywalkerMurder on the Orient Express), and will see them partner-up on an otherworldly mission in a dystopian landscape to uncover the mysteries of the New World and the Noise.

The film follows Todd Hewitt (Holland), who after investigating a nearby crash site, discovers a female named Viola (Ridley) - the first girl he's ever seen in his life - which leads to plenty of confusion for both parties as she becomes acquainted with The Noise, a mysterious entity that allows everyone to see your thoughts at all times and only seems to affect men. Todd thinks everything will be okay, but when Viola's life gets threatened, he risks everything to help her.

In addition to Holland and Ridley, the ensemble cast features Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange; Fantastic Beasts 3), Demián Bichir (The Hateful EightGodzilla vs. Kong), Cynthia Erivo (Bad Times at the El RoyaleHarriet), Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle; Jumanji: The Next Level), Kurt Sutter (Sons of AnarchyThe Shield), and David Oyelowo (SelmaThe Midnight Sky).

The upcoming film is an adaptation of Patrick Ness' The Knife of Never Letting Go, the first novel in his Chaos Walking trilogy, although it's uncertain at this point whether the movie will spawn sequels or if it'll be a one-off. Ness also served as a co-writer on the screenplay with Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: HomecomingCop Car).

In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

This is definitely a movie I won't go for cinemas for. I will give it a try, but I can wait for the home release.
