Warner Bros. Said To Be Considering Three 2024 Release Dates For DUNE: PART TWO As SAG-AFTRA Strike Continues

There's currently no end in sight when it comes to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, and a new report reveals three potential new release dates for Dune: Part Two...in 2024! Here's everything we know so far!

It was recently reported that there's a good chance Warner Bros. Discovery will decide to delay many of its upcoming movies in response to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

With actors hitting the picket lines to voice their concerns about poor pay and the threat posed to their craft by artificial intelligence, studios are starting to come to the realisation that they have no cast members to promote upcoming releases. Do flashy premieres and endless junket interviews really matter that much?

Warner Bros. certainly seems to think so, hence why Dune: Part Two, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Wonka, and The Color Purple are among the titles they're considering pushing into 2024.

According to Deadline (via SFFGazette.com), as things stand, Dune: Part Two will be released on November 3 as planned. However, the final decision is going to come down to Legendary, with the studio said to be in "wait-and-see mode." A final decision is unlikely to be made until September when the next leg of marketing needs to kick off.

As for where Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated sequel would go, the trade notes, "there are three spring options, and you just have to look at the release calendar: March, April or a break in the summer connected to a possible Cannes Film Festival launch."

Warner Bros. has even made the decision to hold three possible dates for the Dune follow-up: March 15 (meaning it would push Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire down the calendar), April 19, or June 21. Still, "if the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA see eye-to-eye by Labor Day weekend, Dune: Part Two could stay exactly where it is on the calendar."

In 2021, Dune received a day-and-date release in theaters and on HBO Max. Despite that, it still managed to earn $402 million worldwide and scored several Oscars. Needless to say, you can probably see why those involved don't want this follow-up to face similar hardships amid the strike action.

We'll hopefully have more to share on these potential delays soon.

OFF TOPIC

Anyone interested there is a Great documentary on Peacock about Oppenheimer. Called "To End All War Oppenheimer The Atomic Bomb" Lots of live interviews of Oppenheimer himself and all main characters not actors. Even Albert Einstein is in it not a actor.

The documentary covers the first Bomb explosion and the two Bombs that were dropped on Japan. Warning there are live shots of the victims of the Bomb drops. It also covers what the U.S. Government did to him, wife and brother.

Once again, it's all the actual people talking not actors.

Only 1 hour and 27 minutes long.

I called my shot weeks ago, they'll absolutely delay Dune. It's an easy billion, might as well spread your profits put, considering there won't be any next year

Does anyone actually think that having the actors do press interviews and all that actually makes any difference for how many people go see a movie?

This strike is tough. Nobody likes the studios. But the writers and many actors have certainly done a lot to make people dislike them in recent years. Since I watch a lot less Hollywood content these days, I say extend it out as long as possible!

@mountainman - Except this exclusively the actors and writers who said something to make some fans mad, it's the entire industry, all their jobs are at risk right down to catering services

@KaptainKhaos - I absolutely agree that the unfortunate victims will be the crew. They don’t make as much money as the writers and the actors. And the people who have turned many of us off to Hollywood in recent years aren’t the gaffers, caterers ir lighting people. It’s the privileged rich ones.

So while I have no love for the studios, writers, actors (at least the famous ones) or producers, I do get that there are a lot of working class folks caught up in this that just want to do their jobs and feed their families.

I was joking in my previous post. Quite honestly I don’t want the strike drawn out. It hurts a lot of people. I just am sick of the studios, actors and writers these days so the major players in the strike are all parties I’m apathetic to. But I get that others get caught up in it.
