as much of a douche that orson scott card is, ender's game was one of my favorite books growing up. friggin stoked this is being made.

@Godzillafart, "actively lobbied to rob people of their rights?" That's not exactly true, and is certainly subject to interpretation. Gay Marriage is not a "right."

There is nothing in the Constitution, one way or another, that says anything about Gay Marriage (despite what some California courts may say). I am pretty confident that if you could ask the authors of the Constitution whether they intended to create a "right" of Gay Marriage, they would say "NO!" "Marriage" of any kind is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.

Because it is not mentioned in the Constitution, the Tenth Amendment would preserve the issue for determination by the States. Until recently, most states had a prohibition against gay marriage. Society has recently changed to become more accepting of homosexuality, so some states have legalized gay marriage. Other communities (like where I live) have a Domestic Partner Registry that provides most of the same advantages as marriage, but the community cannot permit Gay Marriage because the State has a Constitutional Amendment that restricts marriage to its traditional definition.

I hate the "name-calling" of labeling someone a "bigot" or "racist" without facts to support the claim, which has become so common. If you have actual support for the claim, then that's another thing. But just because someone has taken a political or social position on a debatable topic does not mean that a person should be attacked and demeaned personally. You may not agree with him, but that does not mean that he has ever taken any action to merit being called a "bigot."

Boy are you wrong. While I have no problem not giving this dips*it any of my money, he sits on the board of NOM (National Organization for Marriage) which means he makes decisions as to what NOM does. NOM actively promotes lies and discrimination agains the gay community and acts to pass laws keeping tax-paying citizens whose lives he disagrees with from equal rights based solely on his religion and propaganda. If that isn't the definition of a bigot, I don't know what is.
