Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With 'Prometheus', he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Prometheus Cast: Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron), Captain Janek (Idris Elba), Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace), and David (Michael Fassbender). The film is directed by Ridley Scott, and will hit theaters on June 8th, 2012!

@itoibuki, uhhh, perhaps not at the box office, but in terms of story, direction, acting, etc. Prometheus will be MILES better. Why do you even have to bring Avengers into this? Two TOTALLY different films.

Too many dumb-ass fanboys on this site want to pitch the Avengers in a dick-fight with every film release this summer. Their immaturity is the price we all have to pay for the movies success.

Seen Alien and Aliens and love them, looking forward to this movie. From what the trailers show me, I have a feeling they are ALL going to die. I am just being honest, from most prequels I seen most if not all of the characters end up dying.

Still looking forward to this movie.

If Ridley Scott manages to pull this off then I'll only ever have to revisit his two movies in the forced franchise and forget the other three movies exist.

My main worry is that prequels have a bad habit of destroying some of the magic and mystery of the original movies they precede forever. And having the indiscipline of giving Prometheus way better minority Report style display screens and user interfaces in comparison to those very 1980's version in the original Alien movie. Will Ridley Scott go back to his first Alien flick and do a George Lucas style special Edition with digital FX?

I'm really looking forward to this movie. Alien is in my top 5 favorites of all time. Only thing that sucks is that we kinda already know the end. Earth is obviously safe and the crew from Alien found the dead space jockey with no sign of the Prometheus crew, so..... I hope this movie makes at least 400million. I would love Ridley to branch off the storyline and make two more after this. I know the Predator factor will never be involved, but it would be awesome if they were planted on their planet like we were and the movie makes reference.

R888@ The acting was fine in Avengers and I [frick]ing LOVE that movie, but seriously, look at the cast in Prometheus. This is a finer class of movie, in so many ways. No offense to Whedon. Whedon is full of potential, but he hasn't really done anything close to this kind of SF opus.

@R888, whoa....did I ever say it wasn't? I loved The Avengers, and thought the acting was pretty good. What I said was that the acting will be better in Prometheus. That's a fact.

I'm so looking forward to this film. Don't care about box office numbers and certainly don't give a shit about Critics reviews. I'm sure this movie will live up to the hype. Cant't wait.

"Of course, what I want to do , is scare the living shit out of you."

Lol. That's awesome, but now I'm a little afraid. I don't know how I'm going to be able to watch this in theaters T_T. And I love The Avengers to death but must it be brought up in every thread for every movie?
