Apple TV+ has shared the first For All Mankind season 4 trailer (via SFFGazette.com) and the space race is about to be taken to the next level! The show, which explores an alternate history where Russia put the first astronaut on the moon and America remained in the Space Race has jumped from decade to decade, with NASA eventually setting its sights on Mars instead.

After decades of pushing the boundaries of exploration, man has created a self-sustaining Mars colony...but where do we go from there? Now, as the series enters its fourth and final season, this sneak peek reveals that the race is on to mine an asteroid which could change the future of Earth and Mars alike.

The action has shifted to 2003 and it seems the stage is being set for this alternate history to show just how far the world could have come had space travel remained a priority after the first moon landing. As well as exploring an alternate timeline, For All Mankind has been praised for delivering a compelling exploration of its lead characters.

Heading into season 4, we're undeniably intrigued to learn what became of Danny Stevens after he was imprisoned in an abandoned North Korean spaceship for his role in the death of his fellow astronauts. Based on the trailer, though, the new additions to the series will also have a big role to play as this story nears its end.

"Rocketing into the new millennium in the eight years since Season 3," reads the synopsis, "Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners."

"Now 2003, the focus of the space program has turned to the capture and mining of extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working towards."

The ensemble cast returning for season 4 includes Joel Kinnaman, Wrenn Schmidt, Krys Marshall, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, and Coral Peña along with new series regulars Toby Kebbell, Tyner Rushing, Daniel Stern, and Svetlana Efremova.

For All Mankind was created by Emmy Award winner Moore, and Emmy nominees Nedivi and Wolpert. Nedivi and Wolpert serve as showrunners and executive produce alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein.

The series returns to Apple TV+ on November 10.

I guess since this stars Joel Kinnaman who we've seen in two DC films over the last couple of years it justifies making an article about this show, I can see the logic. And it's never too late to start a new show. (Plus for 3 Seasons it also starred Shantel VanSanten in a leading role and she's worked on The Flash and The Boys so there's also that)

Although if they continue jumping the decades I doubt Kinnaman's character will stick around further, especially as he says in the trailer that he always wanted to go out on a blaze of glory, sounds foreshadowing-esque to me.

And BTW " Now, as the series enters its fourth and final season" where do you get that? I haven't read that anywhere. It might be true but until they make an official announcement it's still just Season 4.

This show, much like The Expanse, really took me by surprise by how good it is.

I like the show alot..only good reason for apple tv+ (Hijack was also goos) but i can't help but feel that season's 3 make up was a bit distracting. Season 4 looks to be even more so.

I understand why they're wanting to keep the same actors, so hopefully there's another good story to tell.

I mean no disrespect to Joel Kinnaman. I think he’s done a great job on the show, but his character this season is supposed to be 74 years old. They’re having to slather the guy with so much old age makeup, it’s distracting. The same goes for several other main cast members (Margo, Ellen, Karen). I kinda wish the show runners had recast older versions of these characters instead of taking the makeup route. I mean I could easily imagine old Ed being played by Ed Harris.
