Rinko Kikuchi Discusses Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM

"When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse."

This site has a problem. Some freak who thinks he's funny. Now luckily there's not a problem in the world, that can't be solved with a little bit of money. Tonight we all win. One of you will get 50 million dollars. And the rest? Well we get Adam Sandler. I don't care who does it, I don't care how they do it. I just want Sandler.

I'm just not excited for this
the trailers have not won me over
I've never been a fan of anime and this looks
a lot like a live action anime.

I will still see it opening weekend
like JoeMomma I want GDT to have a hit
mostly because At The Mountains of Madness needs to get done
That's one of my "wish" movies

Couldn't care less for Hellboy 3

Besides Pacific Rim, there aren't any movies (like Gravity or Hobbit part duo) for WB, that could take 1 place at the box office and stay there for much longer time.

Her,Prisoners,Getaway, We're the Millers - there's not much left.

I got a feeling that Gravity will become second grossing movie for WB this year, right after the Hobbit.

Any guy that doesn't get excited at the prospect of giant robots fighting giant monsters with amazing visual effects should have their testicles and man card revoked.

GDT made 2 good films Blade 2 and Pan's Labyrinth
This is going to suck as much as HB 1 and 2
and make about as much
Lucky they'll eat this garbage up in asia
otherwise it would be bankruptcy for Legendary

Zack Synder(Director) + Wachowski Brothers(Producers) + Guillermo del Toro (Writer) = greatest modern anime movie ever (whether it be Gundam 00 or DragonBall Z or something original) but a collaberation between those 4 would be epic

Hellboy 3 SHOULD be made and I care neither a whit nor a [frick] for any opinion otherwise. Doing that movie should not hinge on the success of Pacific Rim. ATMOM is a great story but I'm not dying for a film version.

@DAGuess and rocky
Actually, if you don't care for giant robots fighting giant monsters, it's your sci-fi card that gets revoked. How can you NOT want to see that?

You're going to smoke a turd in hell for your blasphemy regarding Hellboy 1 and 2;)
rocky

I think I explained it
I hate anime and manga and this stinks of that big time
plus the robots and monsters are so big that it looks fake to me
and it's like they lose scope
and I'm almost always game for some sci/fi fantasy

But like I said, I'll see it for the big guy
maybe he'll get to make ATMOM

Hellboy 3 is never going to happen. After 2 films and 2 studios both with minimal returns?
Maybe he can do Hellboy 3 in comic book format or animated
otherwise give it up, the demand is not there
rusty28
rusty28 - 6/30/2013, 12:10 AM
I'll make sure to carry a book of matches to light that up
I'm sure it'll leave a better aftertaste than HB 1 or 2 :-)

At the Mountains of Madness? yeah not something I'm that crazy about. Maybe GDT just needs to go back to making smaller films. Too much money and then it's cgi galore.
He did great with a limited budget on Pan's Labyrinth and Blade
rusty28
rusty28 - 6/30/2013, 12:51 AM
Damn I almost forgot he made MIMIC too. Yeah this guy just needs to make smaller films. I think the lack of funds opens up his creativity, makes him think more how to engage the audience instead of trying to wow with cgi
