It appears 14 year old Asa Butterfield, who will star in Martin Scorsese's Hugo, has landed the role of Ender in Summit's adaptation of the sci-fi novel (which also spawned a Marvel comic) by Orson Scott card - Ender's Game. The movie will be directed by Gavin Hood, who previously brought us the underwhelming X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and produced by CBM favorites Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

The Hugo and Nebula Award winning novel tells the story of a group of gifted children recruited by the Government after an alien invasion. Ender emerges as the most talented, displaying genius level intellect and strategic skills. He soon emerges as a military leader and Earth's only hope of defeating the aliens.

Ender's Game is scheduled to hit theaters March 15, 2013

Liking everything except for the director. Could be good, but I'm not expectin much from Hood.

I really liked that kid in Merlin, he has creepy eyes..
I can't believe this is actually happening. It is one of my favorite sci-fi book series.. It is most likely going to be a faithful adaption too. A few years back they were going to make a theatrical version, but make Ender older and give him a love interest, and OSC wouldn't let it happen.

Sounds cool. Hopefully it is a faithful adaptation.

The fact that Hood directed Wolverine doesnt necessarily mean he is a bad director. I think most of the blame of that abomination goes to Fox and specially the chairman Tom Rothman who (while Hood was in his little break) slaughtered his work add his own shit in it. Thats what i remember reading from somewhere.

Rendition and Tsotsi were good movies.

NOOOOOOOOOO! Gavin Hood is a HACK. I won't have him ruin another one of my favorite characters! This can't happen.

I remember reading this in the 9th grade; its one of my favorite books.

After watching M Night's Last Airbender, I thought Noah Ringer would be the ideal choice.

Damn Ender's Game was a great novel. Will be quite pissed if this movie sucks.

But I think I'd rather watch OSC's other classic on the big screen, the Seventh Son.
