Synopsis

Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls—the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)—to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey—if they succeed—will set them free.

From the official blog of creature/character/concept artist Jerad S. Marantz:

Sucker Punch was an amazing project to work on. It was like designing four different movies all at once. I was able to tackle everything from creatures to props on this show. Zack Snyder was the most decisive director and the design phase was incredibly efficient. There were a lot of incredible designers on this project and it was an honor to contribute. I had a lot of fun.

So excited for this movie! The look and feel of it seem
much better than Watchmen and 300 to me, which is a good thing.

Zack has the potential to legitimize video game movies, they way Nolan did for comic book movies. Zack has that perfect mix of imagination and intensity that would be required as well as the cinematic talent necessary to present a video game story in a very legitimate way. Despite what some of you might say, given his work on 300 and the Watchmen I also believe he has just the right amount of respect for source material that is necessary for a VG movie. These concept photos could just have easily been for some epic game. That being said, there are so many projects that Zack could tackle. My dream would be collaboration between him and Hideo Kojima to bring us the epicness that is Metal Gear, to our big screens. However, I think he would do just about any franchise a good deal of justice.

ah you people are acting like he's the one who did the concept art. He's got Ok visuals, he's a poor directer though and he's no Del Toro with his concept art

Look how well Zack improved on a cheesy comic like Watchmen or a dated concept like Dawn of the Dead. Zack is one of the top 3 directors out there right now. Just love this mans product. Am i gonna have to break out the "D" word again?

@ender YES! Snyder for MGS movie! Snyder is one of the few film makers who actually cares about source material. For 300 and Watchmen he used the graphic novels as his story boards to get an exact adaptation.
