IRON MAN Composer Will Score PACIFIC RIM & The Film Won't Be PG

Director Guillermo del Toro has announced that German composer Ramin Djawadi (Clash of the Titans) is officially scoring his giant monsters vs. giant robots film, Pacific Rim.

The director posted two new messages on his official fansite. The first message dispels the notion that his new film would be rated PG. This was reported in a recent FEARnet interview with co-screenwriter Patrick Melton, but Guillermo responded, "PG-13. Not PG."

That is extremely good news, we certainly don't want a kiddie film when were talking del Toro and giant monsters. Unleash the beasts!

While the other news is that Guillermo has found the composer that he believes is the perfect fit for his movie. Ramin Djawadi has worked on Clash of the Titans, Iron Man, and most recently Game of Thrones

"After many months we have finally closed the scoring with Ramin Djawadi- whose scores for Game of Thrones,, Prison Break and Iron Man are amongst my favorites in the last few years."

Pacific Rim is scheduled for release on July 12, 2013. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff.

I'll have to disagree with the Captain America score. That Dick Sherman "Star Spangled Man with a Plan" song is still stuck in my head.

Debney's Iron Man 2 score was just a fluff superhero score. It sounded like music you'd expect to hear playing with a Saturday morning cartoon from the late 90's.

Yeah, I guess I agree about the score. It sounded like generic patriotic stuff, like something you'd expect to hear on Band of Brothers. Thor was alright. I bought the soundtrack on itunes. I listen to it when I need noise.

Ramin Djawadi's score for Iron Man suited the character perfectly!!!! Seriously, one of the best super hero scores ever. His theme kinda played throughout the film and it was just perfect. It had a certain flare to it that reminded me of the character. "Driving with the Top Down", "Mark 1", "Gulmira", "Merchant of Death", and "Iron Man" were the best. Best score out of all the Marvel Films by far. I can remember the theme the best too.

@CapA I know right? Iron Man 2's score wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. And I don't think there was any real memorable theme when Iron Man appeared. "Driving with the Top Down" WAS his theme from the first Iron Man. So was "Iron Man." Nothing like that was in Iron Man 2. At least, not one that I can remember lol.

@nailbiter111 Yeah that was called "We're Going to Fly Now." Good song, but it was the only good one in the whole score lol. I have that on my Ipod.

Iron Man score > Thor > Cap > IM2 > GL

IM2 has no memorable score at all. GL is pure generic score crap.

I had a feeling it wouldn't have a PG rating, but its good to have some light shed on this, and I think the the guy would be a good composer for this film @Intruder yea that theme does sound like it could be a theme from DBZ.

Those of you talking about what was bad scores and goood scores in films probably aren't scoring much at home are you? The focal point of our comments should be around the fact that this has more potential now to make a compelling story on screen as a PG-13 movie, and it could border on R.

@ monkeyballs3- Geesh, a guy sees an oppurtunity to create a wise crack pun and you have to knock it down like The Dude handles bowling pins. Apparently I am out of MY element.

All I remember music wise in either Iron Man movie is AC/DC and Black Sabbath. I bet the majority of you that don't have degrees in music or play the "skin" flute agree. Well, maybe you play that instrument, but that's beside the point. Point being, not a memorable score from Iron Man so no hope for a John Williams-like memorable score from Pac Rim.
