AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Josh Brolin Reveals He Turned Down Chris Pratt's Role In JURASSIC WORLD

The Jurassic World trilogy could have looked a lot different as Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 star Josh Brolin has explained why he turned down the role of Owen Grady in 2015's Jurassic World...

Josh Brolin is one of the best actors working in Hollywood today, but he's missed out on or turned down quite a few big roles over the years. The Avengers: Endgame star was eyed to play the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman by Zack Snyder before the filmmaker ultimately chose Ben Affleck, while Brolin actually turned down the part of Owen Grady in Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World

That movie would go on to break box office records, of course, but Brolin has no regrets about opting out of the reboot. In fact, he believes Chris Pratt was "the right guy" to lead that franchise.

"Jurassic World, with all respect to Steven [Spielberg], I could not picture me doing it," he told Happy Sad Confused (via SFFGazette.com). "I could not picture me being that guy. And I’m very, very happy, based on my decision, of what Chris [Pratt] does with it because I think Chris is the right guy."

"When I saw Chris in Guardians of the Galaxy, cause I knew him a little bit before that, and I was just like, ‘What?’ I mean, we all were," the actor continued. "I even said it to him, kind of embarrassingly, when I saw him at a party once, and I was like, ‘Dude, what the f*ck?' Cause I get really excited about other people doing well, it doesn't just have to be me. I think I knew from a big picture standpoint that somebody else would do a much better job than me."

As talented as Brolin is, it's hard to picture him playing Owen in the Jurassic World movies. If he had decided to accept the part, you have to believe the character would have been totally different, and it may have led to him missing out on playing Thanos in the Avengers movies and Cable in Deadpool 2. Plus, while Jurassic World broke box office records, Infinity War and Endgame later demolished those!

We can't help but wonder if Brolin's experience making Men in Black 3 may have played a part in him deciding not to lend his talents to another popular franchise looking to hit the reset button.

Pratt will return as Owen in Jurassic World Dominion on June 10!

Yeah I couldn’t see him working so well in that role. Probably for the best.

...Personally, I think Jurassic Pratt is the worst version of Pratt... At least with Brolin, maybe I'd buy the gruff loner angle for Owen.

He would have been a million times better than pratt. Hell, there are only a few who wouldn't have been anyway.

I could only imagine Josh Brolin's Grady as a man covered in Raptor scars. A man who has suffered attacks from the predators he trains.

Never the man Bryce Dallas Howard would be romantically involved with, but she might need help from him.

@Repian - I like that interpretation; reminds me a bit of Muldoon and Roland from the other movies. While I do like Pratt for his given role, I would’ve preferred a more seasoned and scarred wrangler

I'm sure Brolin would have been
Good in the role but Pratt was the right way to go in my opinion, especially if Grady and Claire were always meant to get together.

Brolin would have been better and more believable as someone who's able to train dinosaurs. A more grizzled veteran version 9f that character would have been cool. Plus then we wouldn't have the forced romance with Howard.

I just wondering if Brolin was cast as the batman rather than Ben Affleck. his batman version might be cold, strong, and menacing than ben affleck.

@solskulldeath

Doesn’t that already describe Affleck’s Batman?

@regularmovieguy - yeah, but based on the look, Josh got the dry, cold-blooded bruce Wayne/batman, rather than Ben.

Am I the only one that thinks Brolin would blow Pratt out of the water?

Edit: Just saw I’m definitely not the only one haha

I could easily see him in the role. It would still be Jurassic World, all the same though. But if the role didn’t speak to him, good for him to not just take the paycheck and go through the motions.
