Netflix and DreamWorks Animation have released the official trailer for the eagerly-awaited fourth season of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, which will return with eleven brand new episodes on December 3.
JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS Showrunner On Season 3's
Big Bad SPOILER, That Epic Fight, & More (Exclusive)
While they finally managed to escape Isla Nublar in the action-packed season three finale, it looks like their trip back to Costa Rica is going to take a serious detour when they run into the Mosasaurus, who pushes them toward a mysterious new island that, in a shocking turn of events, is not Isla Sorna?
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Kreamer teases, "I don't want to get too spoiler-y, but it is not Isla Sorna and it is not one of The Five Deaths. This is an island previously unseen in the Jurassic canon. The kids, basically, are gonna have to figure out what the heck is going on as opposed to other seasons where the audience was ahead of them."
If it's not one of The Five Deaths - Isla Sorna, Isla Matanceros, Isla Tacano, Isla Muerta, or Isla Peña - then wherever they've crashlanded should make for an interesting change of pace this coming season as our favorite campers find themselves face-to-face with a new T-Rex, a Spinosaurus, new Velociraptors, a Saber-toothed tiger, and, oh yeah, an island full of robots?!
"It's almost like Darius mentioned in season 3 about the Scorpius Rex. They've only survived because they know how the dinosaurs are going to behave or they know what this situation is. Now, thanks to the mosasaurus, they've been thrown into this whole new world where they don't know why things are happening, who's behind it. Obviously, things are not good. So not only is it all the fear of dinosaurs and now robots, but it's also fear of the unknown."
He notes that the show is still very much canon to the overall franchise, but they have a little more creative freedom to further expand on plot points that will only enhance the Jurassic experience come next June. "We have our own corner of the franchise. It's completely rooted in the canon, but things that happen in our [series] inform things that happen in Fallen Kingdom, as well as the upcoming Dominion."
As for that aforementioned Spinosaurus, when pressed on whether it was the same one we saw in Jurassic Park III, Kreamer knowingly teases, "There's a good chance that it might be the exact same spinosaurus," but adds, Well then, why the heck's it in a desert? 'Cause, that's not a normal habitat for a spinosaurus."
The main voice cast of Paul-Mikél Williams (Westworld), Jenna Ortega (You), Ryan Potter (Titans), Raini Rodriguez (Austin & Ally), Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs), and Kausar Mohammed (Silicon Valley) will all return to voice their respective roles, while Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Cruella, The Good Place) and Academy Award-nominee Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense; A.I. Artificial Intelligence) have joined the cast in new roles.
Finally escaping Isla Nublar, the campers find themselves in grave danger when shipwrecked on a mysterious island. As the group begins to uncover the strange secrets of this new land, they must hatch a plan to not only save themselves, but also protect the dinosaurs from the sinister forces at work.
