Following the underperformance of Godzilla: King of the Monsters ($385.9M worldwide) earlier this year, Warner Bros. and Legendary have decided to push back their MonsterVerse magnum opus Godzilla vs. Kong eight months from March to November 20, 2020.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be the fourth installment in the burgeoning MonsterVerse, following Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island and the aforementioned Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Adam Wingard (Death Note) is directing with a screenplay from Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl). The fensemble cast features Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir, Zhang Ziyi, Van Marten and Lance Reddick.

Production has wrapped, but with the announcement of a new release date, it appears the film may soon be scheduled to undergo some rehoots before it hits theaters next fall.

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Godzilla vs. Kong features:

Alexander Skarsgård in an undisclosed role

It was predictable. One poster, no trailers, no promotion... And it was supposed to come out in March? Yeah lol, something wasn't right.

It's done filming, so they probably have rewrites and effects to polish up.

@KWilly - Gotta change the story after the story established in KotM wasn't received too well...

I guess they're hoping for holiday legs.

But isn't the Eternals movie also opening in November?

I wish I could be sad about this...but that's how ambivalent I was about the previous movie.

@GoldGuy - I'm just sad about Dune, if it turns out to be good, being released opposite West Side Story and Coming 2 America. I have a feeling there won't be a Part 2 if it bombs.

Even though I didn't really care for the first Godzilla or Skull Island, I was still pretty excited for this, but King of the Monsters pretty much killed all my hype.

These movies have been a massive disappointment for the most part. Godzilla and Skull Island were just okay, and KOTM was awful.

As a Godzilla fan since i was a kid, i thought Godzilla was alright, didn't like it much when it came out but I've learned to appreciate it. Actually quite liked Skull Island but I found KOTM really disappointing.
