THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS Trailer Brings Back [SPOILER]...But Probably Not How You Expected

Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for The Matrix Resurrections, and while it doesn't reveal too much about the movie, we do get some big hints about just how many crazy places it's taking us to.

The new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections is here, and yes, it looks like Agent Smith is finally back! Hugo Weaving made it clear some time ago that, like Laurence Fishburne, he wouldn't be returning for Lana Wachowski's fourth instalment of the franchise, but Jonathan Groff (Hamilton) appears to be picking up where he left off and having a helluva fun time doing so.

There's a lot of new footage to delve into here, but it's such a random assortment of moments that we're really no closer to figuring out exactly what's going on. Neo (Keanu Reeves) is clearly going to find his way back out of the Matrix, but what that means for the world remains to be seen for now.

It looks epic, though, and something tells us we're going to be in for a wild ride with this one.

In The Matrix Resurrections, moviegoers will return to a world of two realities: one, everyday life; the other, what lies behind it. To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, to truly know himself, Mr. Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. And if Thomas...Neo...has learned anything, it’s that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of - or into - the Matrix. Of course, Neo already knows what he has to do. But what he doesn’t yet know is the Matrix is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before. Déjà vu.

The cast also includes Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The Matrix Resurrections arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.

It'll be fun for a watch. Not expecting all that much, but I imagine I'll be surprised. (Like with No Time To Die.)

@Fogs - You mean to imply that HOLLYWOOD, a place which is now devoid of creativity or original ideas is lazy???

@Fogs - Hollywood has been making remakes since the days of Silent Films, nothing new.

Yeah. Like, I get it. “Deja vu.” “You feel like you’ve lived this day before.” “Almost like you’re living in a simulation.” That all fits with the themes of the first Matrix movie. But this looks like it’s offering nothing new. It literally looks like the same thing we got in the first Matrix movie. Say what you want about the sequels, at least those felt like different movies compared to this one.

At least the cast is still charming as ever, including all the new ones.

This looks good, I just hope it's better than the 2nd and 3rd ones. It seems Agent Smith and Morpheus are different versions in this movie. Can't wait for it, I have to watch it in IMAX.

Showing us parallel flashbacks to the other films just shows how much the green hue is missing.

This also just doesn't feel like the slick martial arts and gun-fu film that the other ones were. Maybe they're just leaving them out of the trailers but I just feel like I'm watching a bunch of explosions. Even that "I still know kung-fu" bit didn't look so good to me.

Shang-Chi's fight scenes were very inspired by the Matrix movies and I feel like that's the kind of vibe I should be seeing here.

Not feeling it right now, personally speaking.

Looks good. I can't wait to watch this over Christmas break with my parents both of whom are big Matrix fans.

Haters gonna hate.

Maybe part 2&3 weren’t perfect, but the trilogy over all is amaze-balls.

Very happy and excited to watch part 4, which sounds like it has a potentially interesting spin.

@MuadDib - idk, I think that's simplifying the sequels too much and ignoring their many issues. When most people think of The Matrix, they don't think of a trilogy, they focus on the first film which can stand alone; the impact of the first film is not lessened by not seeing the sequels, or by the quality of those films. The sequels had some great sequences for sure (the highway fight scene in Reloaded for example), but they were a massive step down and departure from the quality, thrill, and impact of the first film.

I hated the idea of a 4th Matrix film, especially with one of the Wachowski's helming it. But, I'll be honest, I've really liked what I've seen footage wise from these trailers so far. I'm hooked, curious how this all turns out.

Brightness of this 'Matrix' is throwing me off. As well as some of the physics.

Either way I'm there.

Something about it feels weightless. Missing that underlying grit the original had. Not to mention, the slick martial arts too. Those movies captured the essence of the eastern kung fu flicks of old with their fight sequences so well. The fight with Morpheus looks flimsy.

Unpopular opinion: I still have no idea why people hype up Jessica Henwick so much because of her part in Iron Fist.

She was just as wooden as Finn Jones, and she was also the worst in the trio of of her sisters in GoT. I asked my brother and he straight up told me "cos she's hot". I'd like to think that's not the reasoning for most other people.
Kumkani
Kumkani - 12/6/2021, 12:59 PM
@Kurne - I do think she was good in Iron Fist, but I don't think she delivered the best performance in that show (that was Tom Pelphrey as Ward) or anything comparable to the best of the Marvel Netflix actors.

Honestly with everyone either sucking or overacting in that show, it wasn't hard for someone who was merely competent to stand out.

No chance in hell thanks to HBO Max.

When you think about it the only ones who could have saved Neo and Trinity are the machines themselves. They died in the Machines base.
