THE MATRIX Star Keanu Reeves Reportedly Donated 70% Of His Fee For The Movie To Cancer Research

Keanu Reeves continues to live up to his reputation as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, as the actor reportedly donated a large chunk of his earnings for the first Matrix movie to cancer research.

Keanu Reeves is known for being a genuinely good dude, and continues to live up to his "Hollywood nice guy" reputation with acts of kindness and generosity. The actor recently reprised the role of Neo for The Matrix Resurrections, but a new report from The LAD Bible claims that Reeves donated about 70% of his fee for the original 1999 movie to cancer research.

Reeves' younger sister Kim was diagnosed with leukaemia back in 1991, and battled the disease for 10 years before entering remission. Apparently, the John Wick star donated over $30 million of his salary to fund leukemia research, and while he doesn't want his name associated with it, he also set up a charity to support people living with cancer.

Reeves will soon begin working on the fourth installment in the John Wick franchise, but he's also signed on for his first small-screen project. Deadline reports that the highly in-demand actor will star in Hulu's adaptation of Erik Larson’s 2003 novel The Devil in the White City. The story focuses on two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.

It's not clear if Reeves will play Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and fastidious architect racing to make his mark on the world, or Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical “Murder Castle” on fair grounds.

Valiant.

I've decided this movie's statement to the industry is infinitely better than the movie itself. If that makes sense...

Might change my mind.

@CyberNigerian - I agree. I like the movie, but it's intentions are better than the final product

@CyberNigerian - I get what you mean with this, it's a bad movie with a creative message.
However I'm still kind of bummed that after the first half and making it's point it still became what it mocked.

@Starlight -
You have to give him credit for donating to cancer research (something that matters) instead of a charity for show (which often pocket a chunk of the money without doing anything significant). This is how you know Keanu Reeves is the real deal.

I love Keanu but just out of curiosity, he doesn't want people to know this yet somehow it gets leaked ? A bit of an oxymoron ain't it. If you really don't want people to know it's not that hard if you do it privately.

Still a great gesture btw, wish more actors participated even if it probably won't matter much if at all.

Well, yeah, he had to do something for those poor souls still dealing with the side effects of watching RESURRECTIONS.

Dark humor aside, such a great thing to do on his part. He truly seems like a good guy.
